A portion of the convention photos from the Shenyang Northern Realm Comic Con is finally sorted out today. This look was originally conceived to pursue a crystalline, translucent aesthetic, which led me to select cool tones for everything from the wig and contact lenses to the attire itself. The headpiece was easily the most intricate element of this styling: the transparent, radiating spike structures required numerous bobby pins to anchor onto the wig, complemented by draped lace veils on either side. To ensure structural stability during the shoot, I walked around the convention hall with extreme caution, terrified of accidentally knocking it off against something. For makeup, I emphasized bright blue contact lenses and rich red lips, ensuring my complexion remained vivid even under cool-toned convention lighting.

The dress was crafted from layers of sheer blue and white tulle, accented with fabric roses and shimmering sequins across the chest alongside wide, dramatic bell sleeves. The lower half was styled with white pantyhose and glittering flat shoes. Carrying this entire outfit around the venue was quite an endurance test; the skirt was voluminous, requiring me to deliberately arrange the layers of tulle across the floor in seated poses to showcase the fullness. The prop was a translucent blue ice crystal magic staff, which caught ambient reflections during takes to evoke a glowing luminescence.

Lighting at the convention floor was rather chaotic, so the photographer used a wide-aperture lens to melt the busy background into creamy bokeh, scouting multiple angles to avoid cluttered attendee crowds and equipment. Because the outfit leaned long, the white stockings visually served to streamline and elongate leg lines. Seated and kneeling poses tested core endurance heavily, demanding continuous checks to ensure fabric draping settled naturally. Unlike studio sessions with controlled strobes, convention photos require tracking ceiling downlights and utilizing glossy floor reflections to provide gentle fill light across the face.

We captured numerous close-up shots holding the prop, where hand gestures had to stay relaxed to prevent tensed veins from protruding under the lights. Overall, this ensemble required immense dedication—from pre-event prep to on-set posture adjustments. Convention photos capture the authentic light and ambient buzz of the venue in an unforgettable way. I hope to shoot additional close-up studio portraits of these fine details in the near future.
