This photoshoot for the 2026 Port Midsummer Cool Festival was actually planned on rather short notice. Bringing Hammann's racing-themed design to life required considerable attention to costume details. The top features a cropped, midriff-baring cut in blue, black, and white color-blocking, complemented by sleeves accented with red-and-white stripes. To faithfully embody the essence of a tsundere kitten, I wore bright blue contact lenses paired with a long, straight silver-white wig and red-and-black cat ear headwear, striving to capture that characteristically pouty, slightly petulant demeanor.
The set was styled around a motorsport theme, with vibrant red-and-blue contrasting backdrop panels providing intense racing energy. For the first setup, I leaned against a black industrial drum prop with one hand perched on my hip. Working with a novice photographer meant taking some time to dial in lighting angles. We continually repositioned the bounce reflector on site to sculpt sharper facial contours. For the second sequence, I attempted an over-the-shoulder glance while turning. This angle effectively showcased body curves—particularly how the blue athletic shorts paired with black lace-trimmed thigh-high Stockings and red-and-white striped over-the-knee boots visually elongated leg proportions. Because the boot heels were quite high, managing my center of gravity was essential to keeping my posture effortless and fluid rather than rigid.
The third frame was a direct frontal capture holding a gold trophy and a black blind box prop. The backdrop featured a red-and-white checkered pattern embellished with yellow cartoon motifs, infusing the atmosphere with playful liveliness. Shooting on a bustling convention floor often involves chaotic ambient lighting, so I reminded the photographer to monitor metering closely, ensuring accurate color fidelity for both skin tones and textile textures. The interplay between leather accents and fabric patches yielded varied specular reflections under bright convention lights, necessitating tight control over the lighting ratio.
The hosiery worn this time was packed with fine nuances: typographic letter prints along the sock bands and a tight, sculpted fit required constant mindfulness to avoid awkward, unnatural wrinkling during poses. I made a habit of stretching my legs between takes to keep muscle definition relaxed yet toned. Our communication flowed seamlessly throughout the session; though the photographer was relatively new to the craft, their shutter timing was remarkably precise. This series captures my personal interpretation of Hammann's race queen look while serving as a delightful keepsake of this convention experience.
