These feature photos of the Tsaritsa are finally out. As the supreme ruler of Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact, this shoot was actually quite a big challenge for me. From the moment I received the costume, I was thinking about how to portray that cold, majestic, and somewhat mysterious aura. The crown has a tremendous amount of detail; to capture the crystal-clear feel of ice and snow crystals, my styling teacher put a lot of thought into adjusting the position of the hair accessories so that the silver-white wig and the diadem would blend together better, while also retaining that elf-like lightness. For the eyes, I chose ice-blue contact lenses paired with a cooler eye makeup, intentionally elongating the outer corners of the eyes to enhance that sharp, unapproachable edge, yet in the choice of lip color, I used a slightly warm red to brighten the complexion, avoiding making the whole person look too pale amidst the cool tones.
The costume's material is very rich, featuring white fabric piecing on the upper body with fluffy edges, while the lower skirt hem is made of lightweight sheer gauze combined with dark blue satin ribbons, creating a wonderful flowing feel when moving, exposing the leg lines and adding to the overall layering. Because the outfit is quite gorgeous, it requires special attention to posture during the shoot to avoid looking bulky. The staff prop in my hand has a lot of weight, and holding it for a long time definitely makes the arms sore, but to showcase the Majesty's dignity in front of the lens, I tried my best to maintain a stable posture in every shot, even making it look effortless to hold. The on-site setup was simply breathtaking; the white Roman columns, retro crystal chandeliers, and those blue-and-white flowers directly saved a lot of trouble with special effects, allowing me to immerse myself in that atmosphere much faster.
For the on-site lighting, we mainly adopted high-key cool-toned light, which brings a translucent feel when shining on the body. To match this ice-and-snow atmosphere, I had almost no exaggerated movements during the shoot, opting instead to sit or stand gracefully, communicating with the lens through my gaze. In a few shots, I intentionally raised my chin slightly or gently rested my hand on the staff, wanting to use such subtle body language to display the Majesty's poise and sense of control. Although the lighting was very bright during the shoot, the indoor temperature wasn't actually high, and wearing this outfit was indeed a test of perseverance, but the moment I saw the final photos, all the hard work paid off. The photographer has an exceptional sense of lenswork, capturing many moments I particularly love, whether it's crossing legs while sitting on the steps or lifting the skirt while standing, the composition was captured wonderfully. Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact has a unique biting coldness, and being able to personally interpret the role of the Tsaritsa this time was a very precious experience for me, deepening my understanding of this character.
