[Nekozuka Hibiki cosplay] Blue and white cheerleader outfit with animal ears and yellow pom-poms

Putting on this blue-and-white cheerleader uniform and holding bright yellow pom-poms, I completed a memorable photoshoot at the Guangzhou CPSP anime convention today. For this location shoot, photographer @ISLAND and I prepared thoroughly in advance, ensuring that character traits and costume textures were clearly presented even under the complex lighting conditions of an anime convention.

In terms of equipment, we went all out this time. As a Viltrox anime convention photographer setup, the lenses used were the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 and 56mm f/1.7, where high resolution and excellent background bokeh provided a huge advantage in crowded convention settings. They nicely softened background clutter and display booths, highlighting the character subject and this blue-and-white cheerleader uniform. As for lighting, Godox gear backed us up all the way: the key light was an AD400PRO illuminating facial and body contours, the fill light used an AD200PRO to supplement shadow areas, and my favorite was the side rim lighting created with the AD100PRO, which exquisitely outlined the edges of the animal ears and halo, adding three-dimensional depth to the overall light and shadow.

In terms of styling, the plush gray animal ears overhead and the floating yellow halo serve as visual focal points, complemented by a dark blue sequined headband that looks photogenic in close-ups. Star stickers on the cheeks and light blue contact lenses give the eyes a more animated spark. This cheerleader ensemble features a halter midriff-baring crop top paired with a white pleated miniskirt; the dark blue side panels on the skirt and emblem on the bow tie echo the halo color scheme. During the shoot, we repeatedly fine-tuned various poses, as the pom-poms have strong volumetric presence, making captured moments key to overall visual tension.

When posing, I focused heavily on line extension. Whether capturing dynamic one-legged standing shots or seated/kneeling angles, I made sure the pom-pom orientation and arm lines felt comfortable. Sitting with legs crossed, the skirt's natural drape combined with chunky white sneakers gave a relaxed, casual vibe; open-arm poses used the vibrant colors of the pom-poms to instantly grab eyes and create striking visual impact. This contrast between yellow and blue-and-white popped brilliantly against the cool gray floor background of the venue.

The Guangzhou CPSP anime convention was undeniably packed. Although attendees and lighting stands were visible in the background, the shallow depth of field blurred them into pleasing bokeh spots. The convention atmosphere was ideal for capturing energetic, sporty themes, with everyone demonstrating great teamwork while prepping props and discussing camera angles. Reviewing the camera playback, I felt the yellow pom-poms needed continuous movement during shooting to convey lively, dynamic energy without feeling stiff.

To get accurate color rendering, we tried numerous side rim light angles, as blue fabrics and white bases reflect light differently, affecting dimensional shading. Achieving clean, pure effects at anime conventions often hinges on reliable gear output. With fast prime lenses, there was no need to worry about field curvature—I could focus entirely on integrating my body language into the outfit. The shooting experience was seamless without lens or lighting hiccups, and the final color tone turned out even clearer and more translucent than expected.

This blue, white, and yellow colorway left fantastic memories at the Guangzhou CPSP anime convention today, where every detail communicated with the photographer converted directly into visual storytelling. Looking back at these photos, I can still feel the passion when shaking the pom-poms. Achieving a state I'm genuinely satisfied with is truly a delightful experience for any Blue Archive Nekozuka Hibiki cosplay endeavor.
