[C.C. cosplay] Daily Styling Shoot Against a Blue and White Backdrop

After changing into this costume for the C.C. cosplay, the shoot took place mainly in this blue-and-white studio. The contrast between this high-saturation deep blue and pure white backdrop required special attention to color balance in post-processing. Starting with hair and makeup, styling this Blonde hair wig was quite time-consuming; not only did I need to set the bangs properly, but I also had to smooth out the ends. The eye makeup had lots of details: to faithfully capture C.C.'s signature style, I layered reddish-pink eyeshadow and applied distinct false lashes and contact lenses to make the eyes appear brighter. The lip color leaned toward nude tones so as not to detract from the visual focus of the eyes. As for the Blue-toned clothing, it features a deep blue satin finish with a relatively heavy fabric. The translucent sleeves and several gold chain accessories across the chest were somewhat tedious to put on, especially around the waist cutouts, which had to be carefully adjusted so they wouldn't dig into the skin. On the day of the shoot, I communicated extensively with Zhao Cai Mao to figure out poses that would best showcase the highlights of the garment design in this Portrait photography session. For example, in the kneeling shot, weight had to be balanced across both knees while stretching the arms upward, allowing the waistline to emerge naturally. In the side-reclining shot, I deliberately relaxed my legs and used the shadows of the skirt for subtle coverage, creating more flattering proportions. The lighting setup mainly utilized key lighting from the front combined with rim fill light to ensure the luster of the blue fabric and the texture of the skin. The overall composition deliberately kept the subject centered rather than pushed to the edges. Throughout the process, we didn't chase after overly niche artistic styles, focusing instead on highlighting the costume details and the inherent charm of the character. The resulting cosplay photos came out rich in texture; framed against the expansive blue backdrop, the cool-toned palette looks exceptionally clean. When shooting this style, trying lighting from various angles is definitely worthwhile.
