The theme of this shoot is a pool party. To present Cheshire's vibe of being both a bit of a little devil and clingy, a lot of thought went into the clothing collocation. We retained the iconic white-based purplish-red bow cat ear hair accessory—this is the soul of the character and is absolutely indispensable. For the upper body, we chose a black lace-trimmed tie-up bikini; the black-and-white color scheme is classic and beautifully complements skin tone. The lower body was paired with distressed denim shorts featuring white fluffy edges, providing both a refreshing summer feel while retaining a trace of maid outfit elements.
In terms of makeup, to match the texture of the summer sunlight, the base makeup was kept very translucent, with the focus placed on the eye makeup. Bright blue contact lenses were a must, and some fine sequins were dotted around the eye area to increase the liveliness of the gaze. The silver-gray wig was specially highlighted with aqua blue, creating a very gorgeous layering effect under the light. The shooting venue was divided into two parts: an indoor pool with blue-and-white mosaic tiles, and a picnic mat area simulating a beach. The light and shadow in the indoor pool were exceptionally fantastic; sunlight streamed through the shutters onto the body, forming natural cutting lines. Lying by the pool edge, utilizing the contrast of light and shadow, made the body lines look more dimensional.
The preparation of props was also very rich: a transparent pink swimming ring, a blue-and-white anchor beach ball, a pink water gun, and a blue plastic cup printed with letters. These small objects could quickly max out the summer atmosphere. When shooting at the beach scene, I lay on the blue-and-white checkered picnic mat, holding a water cup or small sunglasses, with a mini watermelon and a cute yellow fluffy bird placed nearby, making the overall color tone particularly bright and cheerful.
During the shoot, the photographer constantly guided me to show different facets of my state. For example, when leaning against the pool edge, keeping the back straight, shoulders relaxed, lifting the head slightly, with a gaze carrying a cat-like laziness and scrutiny; whereas when lying on the mat, it showcased a more lively and playful side. A more challenging posture was lying sideways in the pool, which required core strength support while keeping an eye on the frayed edges of the denim shorts and the position of the bikini shoulder straps to ensure the composition looked aesthetically pleasing. I really loved those photos that utilized a large aperture to blur out the foreground yellow chick toy doll; the visual focus was entirely concentrated on the subject, which not only highlighted the dreamy summer feel but also wonderfully displayed the leg lines and overall styling. Although the whole shooting process was a bit tiring, seeing the moment where light and shadow perfectly merged with colors in the lens made all the preparation feel worthwhile.
