Preparing for this Cheshire shoot took quite a while, as I wanted everything from garment nuances to set dressing to align closely with the character's temperament. The dress is layered extensively, stacking deep blue lace and white ruffles that give it substantial physical weight once worn. To support the flared shape of the skirt, several layers of petticoats were worn underneath; walking around felt a bit unwieldy, but I was extremely satisfied with the voluminous fluffiness achieved on camera. The blue-gray two-tone wig was also re-trimmed, which, along with the blue contact lenses, ensured the overall styling felt harmonious and true to the 2D aesthetic.
To complement this concept, I specifically selected a vintage study setting. Much thought went into the tabletop props: a chess set, red wax-sealed letters, an antique golden magnifying glass, and that yellow plush toy. All of these aimed to enrich narrative storytelling, hoping viewers would feel that playful longing of a kitty trying to capture the Commander's undivided attention. During the shoot, I continually pondered how to capture that balance of sly wit and clingy affection. Holding the magnifying glass couldn't look overly stern; the expression needed a subtle smile and a sense of eager anticipation.
Adjusting poses on the leather sofa while wearing White stockings was quite a technical task. With such a massive skirt, sitting down required carefully arranging the folds and ribbons to avoid visual clutter in frame. For the full-body shot with crossed legs in Photo 5, we readjusted our angles multiple times so the ambient lighting hit my face just right while my eyes conveyed that languid yet inviting mood. As a cosplayer, I believe that beyond wardrobe accuracy, body language and expressive gaze are what truly breathe life into a character's soul. Standing rigidly is never enough; one must genuinely immerse oneself in the atmosphere and imagine the Commander standing right there in need of company.
This photo set aimed to project a lavish yet interactive mood, so I incorporated subtle techniques into facial control, carefully balancing the curve of my lips and the direction of my gaze. From makeup and wardrobe changes to on-set directing, every step was exhausting, but seeing the final result made all the effort worthwhile. I hope that amidst busy routines, seeing these photos brings everyone a bit of relaxation and the joy of companionship.
