[Hikaru Hitachiin cosplay] Afternoon in Music Room 3: Feel Free to Drop By Anytime

Stepping into the studio with this light orange short wig and purple-blue suit gear required quite a bit more effort than just wearing casual clothes. This set of photos was planned based on the lore of Ouran High School Host Club, choosing the character Hikaru Hitachiin to cosplay and blend that unique high school boy uniform laziness and confidence into the camera lens.

Regarding the outfit, the color of this purple-blue suit jacket is very distinct, presenting a striking yet soft texture under studio lighting. To match the character setting, I specifically adjusted the inner white shirt collar and tied a black-and-purple striped tie around my neck. As for the wig, since Hikaru Hitachiin features a highly recognizable light orange feathered short hair, I put a lot of work beforehand into trimming the bang layers and tail fluffiness to restore that casual, slightly flicked-out effect. The shield-shaped school emblem on the chest is the finishing touch of the whole gear—a reddish-orange base coat with a white letter R, where tiny black and white edge details enhance the overall outfit's refinement. To pair with this high school boy uniform in an academic style, I selected slim-fit black trousers and black platform lace-up boots for the lower half, visually elongating my proportions while making the overall look sharper.

During shooting, we specifically chose a pure black background for studio shooting; this minimalist lighting setup maximizes the color details of the character and costume itself. The photographer used rim light and side-backlight to enhance the glowing effect around the wig edges, separating the character from the dark background. For props, an ordinary, inconspicuous metal folding chair became the central support for all sitting poses; the contrast between this everyday object and the exquisite cosplay look actually better reflects the character's carefree and nonchalant personality traits.

In terms of posing design, I tried several relaxed states. For example, leaning back against the chair with hands behind my head and legs crossed, or resting my chin on one hand while gazing casually off to the side. These body movements weren't overly exaggerated anime poses, but were closer to the realistic feel of a cynical, casual, yet smart high school boy like Hikaru Hitachiin. Communication with the photographer on set was very smooth; to find the right eye focus and light angles, we adjusted chair directions and shoulder heights frame by frame. Sometimes just tilting the head slightly brings a subtle shift to the overall temperament.

For this kind of school uniform Cosplay photoshoot, it really tests overall accuracy and detail control. Whether the tie is tied just right, whether the suit's shoulder lines fit smoothly, or whether the wig gets messed up by the collar are tiny details to confirm repeatedly between takes. Doing such a Cosplay photoshoot is not just changing into clothes, but also understanding the internal frequency of this boy in a high school boy uniform under specific scenarios. Organizing these photos after the shoot, looking at those frozen moments, light orange hair tips against the black background, and scuff marks of black leather boots on the floor, all authentically recorded this studio photoshoot experience. Within this pure black space, constructing the unique atmosphere of the character and work through lighting and attire is, I think, the true charm of Cosplay photography.
