For this Guangzhou Moe Monogatari convention, I decided to pair Miku's look with a set of Jirai-kei casual clothing for the photoshoot. The black and white color-clashing sailor collar top combined with the lace-up design at the waist perfectly balances the original character's gentle temperament, bringing out a touch of cool girl vibe. The hair styling and blue colored contacts are the soul of recreating the character, while the black bowknot and lace skirt hem give the overall outfit more depth. Although I walked around the venue for a long time, probably because this outfit style leans towards an everyday mix-and-match and I didn't carry her iconic headphones, not many visitors recognized me as Miku Nakano. Instead, quite a few people asked if I was an original character, which was pretty interesting. Actually, for this shoot, I specially chose two scenes: an outdoor corridor and a nighttime street. Under natural light, it highlights the gloss of the wig and the softness of the makeup, while the direct camera flash paired with the zebra crossing strengthens the dark atmosphere unique to Jirai-kei fashion. During the shoot, I tried multiple angles such as half-body close-ups, looking back from a side profile, and sitting interactions. Especially the last one where I sit on the ground gently touching my forehead with a fingertip, I personally feel it fits beautifully with Miku's character—a bit shy yet brave enough to express herself. Even though fewer friends recognized the character, being able to wear the clothes of a beloved character and freely roam around a favorite convention is a very joyful thing in itself. There are many details in this outfit, such as the straps at the cuffs and the lace on the skirt hem. I hope more fellow fans can recognize Miku herself in the future.
