[Sunna Cosplay] The Mint-Colored Catgirl from Zenless Zone Zero: Documenting My Convention Experience

This set of Zenless Zone Zero Sunna cosplay photos was mainly taken during a recent offline convention I attended. The overall design of the outfit blends classic maid elements with anime cat features. Pairing the mint-green twin tails with the black-and-white ruffled maid dress gave the look high visibility among the many characters at the convention.

Let's talk about the specific details of this styling first. The cat-ear headband is a core element of the entire outfit, featuring a black base with white borders topped with white ruffles, and decorated with tiny green and white cartoon badges to add a lively touch. The neck features a prominent gold bell and a red tie, with a white cat-head pattern at the bottom of the tie that visually echoes the white lace on the large collar. For the hair, I wore a mint-green twin tails wig styled with straight bangs, adding a small black hollowed-out teardrop hairpiece on my left forehead. Paired with light-blue contact lenses and pinkish blush, the overall makeup and styling perfectly match the character's energetic personality.

During the shoot, to better express different facets of the character's personality, the photographer and I worked together on several posing styles. The first set was in a crowded indoor area with a slightly cool and aloof atmosphere, focusing primarily on my upper body and facial features under relatively soft light. For the other sets, we chose an outdoor overpass balcony as the background. With more abundant natural light, we captured full-body shots that beautifully showcased the layers of the outfit, the waist tailoring, and the details of the black-and-white pleated skirt, white thigh-high socks, and black leg ring below. For the full-body pose, I chose the classic cat-paw gesture, with the hand sleeves echoing the hem of the skirt to create a natural, candid capture. It's also worth mentioning that I was wearing a wireless earbud during the shoot, which served as a fun, spontaneous little easter egg.

This maid outfit has so many ruffles! Though it looks highly exquisite, it actually took quite some time to straighten out all the creases before wearing. To make the skirt puffier, a petticoat was added underneath, which, along with the various small accessories, made the overall weight rather noticeable. However, the final result indeed captured the character's true vibe. Walking around the convention, the mint-green hair and cat-ear look frequently caught the eyes of fellow fans, and many passing photographers snapped a few quick shots.

Honestly, a great cosplay work isn't just about simple visual replication, but rather about bringing the character's unique atmosphere into the real lens. In this photo set, I tried my best to convey Sunna's playfulness and warmth through my gaze and gestures. The photographer's framing and composition were also very precise, keeping all my limb details intact. Whether using a short focal length indoors or a medium-to-long lens outdoors, they did a fantastic job capturing the reflections on the white fabrics and the rich layers within the black areas.

If I had to choose one image that best represents this shoot as a cover, I think the full-body pose under natural outdoor light would be the most suitable. The composition is highly balanced with a great centered character proportion, and it clearly showcases the overall silhouette of the costume and the white thigh-highs pairing, balancing styling display with visual appeal. Although the venue was highly crowded, blurring the background in post-processing made the character pop—a very common technique in offline convention photography.

Overall, this Zenless Zone Zero Sunna cosplay experience was incredibly fulfilling. From the meticulous preparation of the hair and makeup to adjusting my mental state during the shoot, it gave me a deeper understanding of the character. Spending my spare time preparing and completing this set was extremely fun and serves as a wonderful visual record of my cosplay journey.
