Sharing this set of studio shoot records of Perlica cosplay from Arknights: Endfield. This shoot chose a setting with a strong industrial and tactical feel, hoping to present the character's cool, capable, yet lively and cute traits.
In terms of preparation for costumes and props, big thanks to Mao Ciyuan nekocos for providing this tactical style cosplay costume. The outfit design is highly layered, featuring a white cold-shoulder patchwork dress paired with a half-zip short jacket, combined with an eye-catching bright blue waistband and hanging black webbing at the waist, making the overall tailoring very sharp. The yellow tactical gloves and black lace-up shoes are the finishing touches, breaking the softness of the pure white and light blue, adding quite a bit of hardcore tactical vibe. For the props section, I prepared a tactical short blade, which beautifully echoes the scene in different shooting poses.
The completion of the entire makeup and hair styling is inseparable from wig stylist Maomao Chahu's meticulous care. Since the character's own setting carries animal ears cosplay elements, how to make the fuzzy wig and metallic-textured animal ears transition naturally was the top priority. The wig stylist patiently handled the layers of the blunt bangs and sidelocks, giving the white hair an exceptionally fluffy and airy visual effect. For the eye makeup, a clear light blue contact lens was adopted, paired with red flush accents under the eyes, which both retained the cuteness of animal ears characters and anchored the overall cool tone of the makeup.
幕后 details: The most satisfying part of this shoot lies in Feiyu-laoshi's lighting and scene scheduling. We didn't choose conventional bright studio photography, but utilized the office area, black hard-shell travel cases stacked on the edges, old newspapers on the wall, and warning tape as primary elements to construct a wasteland tactical style safe house. Especially with environmental smoke added to some photos, paired with Feiyu-laoshi's lighting, the images instantly carried a sense of storytelling. When displaying physical movements, I tried postures holding the short blade, as well as a composition casually sitting on the desk gesturing with one hand. These highly dynamic snapshots not only didn't waste the design sense of this cosplay costume but also beautifully displayed the character's contrast of resilience and agility.
For me, shooting this set of works was a highly challenging attempt. Simultaneously managing the exquisite feel of the animal ears look and the sense of strength brought by the tactical outfit requires not only well-made clothing but also heavily relies on the photographer's control over light and shadow. Feiyu-laoshi was very attentive to catching expressions during the shoot, without forcing overly rigid poses, but rather hitting the shutter at subconscious moments when I adjusted my gloves or rested my chin in thought, so the final photos feature many very genuine, natural expressions. Although the props and outfit details were numerous, requiring some time to wear and fix, seeing the final presented images made all preparations completely worth it. This cooperation allowed me to gain a lot in character recreation and camera expressiveness for our convention photography records, and I look forward to challenging more visual creations of different styles next time.
