[Shu Cosplay] Arknights Shu Birthday Illustration: Spring Breeze and Rain, Right on Season

This shoot is the official character birthday celebratory set for Arknights' Shu, with the theme set as "Spring breeze and rain, right on season." To fit the temperament of this set of photos, from early preparation to the final images, I put a lot of thought into restoring the character's gentle and healing atmosphere.

Let's start with the makeup and styling. This wig uses a light golden yellow as the base color, mixed with bright blue highlights, and the long hair is braided into a thick plait draped by the side. To reflect the spring vibe, many pink-and-white flower hair accessories are interspersed between the braids. Once the blue horn-like decorations at the top and the pointed ears are put in place, the overall recognition of the look instantly stands out. For the makeup, a clear base and light green contact lenses were specially chosen to enhance the depth and softness of the gaze, making it look less aggressive.

The color coordination of the costume is extremely rich, featuring a magenta puff-sleeve top spliced with a yellow inner shirt and diagonal stripe decorations, and glossy purple-blue slim tights on the lower body. This highly saturated color clashing works exceptionally well with studio lights, clearly outlining the character's silhouette. The white chunky knit shawl draped on the outside adds a heavy, layered texture to the outfit. The yellow gloves I wore have blue stitching details, which is also a noteworthy small element in the character's design. When organizing the clothes on set, the luster and touch of the materials gave me great confidence in the costume texture of this set of photos.

The preparation of props was also a key focus of this shoot. The entire set design includes white porcelain teacups, woven bamboo baskets, food boxes, weasel-hair calligraphy brushes, bamboo slips, and folding fans. We laid out faux moss on the wooden daybed, paired with cherry blossom branches in the background and hanging scrolls with ink-wash paintings, constructing a classical courtyard-style tea gathering scene. The studio lighting setup is highly distinctive; the warm yellow light from the paper lanterns and the cool-toned cyan ambient light in the background create a visual clash. When sitting on the wooden daybed during the shoot, the combination of natural and artificial light made the skin tone look very translucent.

The shooting process went quite smoothly. To express the character's calm and gentle side, I referenced daily scenarios of drinking tea and writing calligraphy. When holding the teacup, I would try different angles for my fingertips, letting the white porcelain echo the yellow gloves. When holding the brush and bamboo slips, to keep the movements from looking stiff, I followed the photographer's guidance to lean my body slightly, letting the brush tip hover naturally above the scroll, presenting the tension of writing without being too forced. For the last few full-body compositions, I sat on the edge of the wooden daybed holding a folding fan, with my legs draped naturally. The glossy purple-blue tights revealed great fabric texture under the light, and this sitting posture beautifully brought out the character's body curves and costume layers.

Although the visual effect of this outfit is gorgeous, it actually tests overall body coordination. The braid has some weight, and the plush tail dragging behind and the shawl are also quite heavy, requiring constant adjustments of creases to avoid looking messy in the frame. However, set against the wooden daybed, moss, drapes, and paper lanterns, all the props and the character ultimately blended together beautifully.
