[Kasugano Sora cosplay] The Vintage Train of Yosuga no Sora, Freezing a Quiet Afternoon

Shooting this Kasugano Sora cosplay set, the location was chosen in a vintage tram scene full of retro atmosphere in Chongqing. The green vintage tram and wooden window frames, along with the slanted afternoon sunlight, provided a quiet and unique narrative background for this cosplay. Kasugano Sora's white-themed styling formed a wonderful visual contrast with the environment here, where the soft white looked exceptionally pure against the dark raw wood and green paint.

A lot of thought went into the styling and makeup this time. Light hair colors place high demands on wig materials. To make the twin tails look naturally curved and frizz-free, I spent quite a bit of time doing localized styling. The small white bowknot hair accessories on both sides of the hair also tried best to restore the details of the character itself.

The outfit selected was a pure white dress with ruffles and pleated designs. Although the overall piece isn't heavy, multiple layers of fabric stack up at the neckline and cuffs. During the shoot, to maintain the fluffy look of the skirt hem, the fabric had to be rearranged frequently. The black thick-soled buckled Mary Jane shoes paired with white lace-trimmed short socks on my feet were a major visual highlight of this styling and a key to reflecting the character's temperament. However, walking back and forth in these shoes on wooden floors or concrete paths for a long time indeed brought a strong aching sensation to the soles of my feet, but for the sake of the final photo results, these hardships were entirely acceptable.

The gray rabbit plushie beside me served as an important prop for this shoot. It allowed me more space for action in front of the lens. Whether holding its ears while walking naturally or hugging it tightly to my chest while gazing at the camera, I tried to let the character's quiet, slightly detached yet soft temperament flow out through this little prop and my gaze.

The wooden floors, vintage carriages, and slanted sunlight are perfect elements for expressing the character's atmospheric vibe. Sitting in the aisle or leaning by the wooden window, utilizing the window frames for composition, could both highlight the refinement of the person and showcase the spatial depth. The sunlight passing through the glass spilled onto my white dress, making the edge of the skirt hem glow with a warm halo; capturing this kind of light and shadow heavily tests the photographer's snapshot ability for this piece of Cosplay photography.

The biggest difficulty during the shooting process was that the light changed very quickly. The afternoon light filtered through the tree shadows and car windows, forming flowing light spots inside the carriage. We needed to adjust positions within a short timeframe to capture the optimal angle. However, precisely because of this uncontrollable natural light, every single photo gained a unique texture. We shot for about a few hours, shifting to different positions in between, from outside the tram to inside, and from the aisle to the corners.

For post-processing, I didn't want to make the scene overly bright or gray. Maintaining a warm film tone, it added a touch of softness to the highlights. That kind of vintage feel doesn't need too many post-production filters; instead, it requires preserving the original light and shadow layers, highlighting the purity of the white clothes and the nostalgia of the railway for a beautiful vintage portrait.

This Chongqing location shoot in the vintage tram was a brand-new attempt for me at the character Kasugano Sora from Yosuga no Sora. There was no excessive scene building, but rather relying on the textures and lighting of the real scene. Throughout the entire cosplay process, I focused on the character's introverted emotional expression, hoping to convey a quiet power undisturbed by the outside world through these photos. As an official photoshoot, the overall presented effect makes me feel all the prior preparations were completely worth it.
