This shoot was a special Qixi Festival project for Kama from Fate/Grand Order. The entire studio was built with an immersive Xianxia fantasy physical set, utilizing dual-toned blue and purple drapes as the primary backdrop, paired with reddish-pink lotus props and withered tree branches to evoke an ethereal, otherworldly space tinged with seductive mystique in this Cosplay photography.
For the costume styling, I chose a form-fitting cut-out design color-blocked in deep navy and glossy pink, a tailoring cut that beautifully accentuates the character's silhouette. The upper body features deep navy as the base, edged with golden trim and armor-textured pauldrons, while the bust area is supported with rigid metallic-textured structures, creating a visual balance of open negative space that radiates both allure and aggressive sharpness. The arms feature custom deep-navy long sleeves with golden grid lines, seamlessly extending the visual lines of the entire outfit.
The lower half is a standout highlight of the photo, utilizing glossy silk-textured fabric as drapes. The pink metallic-sheen lower hems suspended from the waist combine with golden leg straps and metallic thigh rings, matched with white strappy high heels. The high-slit design maximizes the display of leg lines, serving as a vital element for both character recreation and visual impact.
In terms of makeup, to fit the persona of the Goddess of Love, I chose an ultra-luminous base foundation with soft pink eyeshadow blended at the corners of the eyes, paired with a deeper lip shade to give the gaze both innocence and a detached aloofness swayed by desire. The smooth white straight wig with blunt bangs, complemented by long red pendant earrings, instantly captured the character's unique blend of divinity and vulnerability.
Great thought was devoted to the lighting in this Cosplay photography session. The on-site lighting setup interlaced cool and warm color temperatures: the ambient light leaned toward an ethereal, cold blue-purple, while the rim and side lights illuminating the figure were warm-toned, paying special attention to highlighting the legs and face. Post-production visual effects added blue starburst flares and shimmering light particles which, paired with the raised-hand gesture, crafted a dynamic atmosphere as if casting a spell or beckoning love.
The phrase "being dominated by love and desire is also proof of being alive" resonates deeply with this character's core theme. Portraying such a paradoxically alluring character around the Qixi Festival, I hope to offer everyone another glimpse into Kama's presence in a tangible physical setting while remaining faithful to the original Fate/Grand Order lore. The entire photoshoot went seamlessly from set construction to final delivery; although it was an elaborate set, every single detail served to elevate the character's divinity and charm, making this a truly special commemoration for the FGO 10th Anniversary.
