This shoot was not merely an interpretation of the character, but an interactive dialogue between body and light. Because the fabric of this Ice blue gown is quite unique—mainly composed of sheer, airy tulle and lace—I deliberately chose a radiant, highlighting foundation for my makeup, pairing it with light blue contact lenses and low-saturation lip gloss. After putting on the custom crystal tiara and bow hairpieces, the entire look took on an intensely cool-toned aesthetic.
The set was arranged with high-luminance white folding screens, evoking the sensation of a pure white snowscape. This high-key photographic style places high demands on facial definition, as overexposure easily washes away natural shadows. I intentionally redefined my eye contours, accentuating the lashes and lower eyeliner to harmonize with the soft light sculpted by photographer Niuniu.
As for the wardrobe, the waist corset design beautifully flatters the figure, though the semi-sheer fabric demanded careful body shaping. The multi-layered tulle of the skirt flared out when seated, requiring constant adjustments to keep everything tidy. The most memorable element was the pair of Glass Slippers; to capture their crystal-clear brilliance, I kept them on for quite a while. However, walking on the mat was slippery, which sparked the idea to create a barefoot variation—this actually accentuated the slender contours of my thighs and ankles even more strikingly within the cool-toned palette.
For posing, I referenced numerous ballet seated postures; for instance, the crossed-leg poses in photos three and five nicely elongate the visual proportions. Sitting on the plush rug added wonderful texture, where the white pile contrasted with the sheer tulle to enrich visual layering. To complement this luminous translucence, I also dusted highlighter across my collarbones and shoulders.
The session was lengthy because we had to accommodate light refraction from multiple angles, often arranging the skirt into specific curves just to let light filter through. The lighting technician adjusted fixture placements repeatedly to showcase the sheer radiance of the fabric. While standing and walking in Glass Slippers caused some discomfort, enduring it was entirely worthwhile to project the character's noble, cool-toned grace.
In post-production, we deliberately retained the gentle softness of the raw files without over-sharpening, giving the overall set a matte, fairytale picture-book feel. The pearl accessories and choker were also refined to blend into the icy ambiance. In monochrome-dominant shoots, the greatest hurdle is conveying three-dimensional depth and emotion within a single color palette. What captivated me most about this look was the balance between splendor and delicate vulnerability, perfectly aligning with the Crystal Princess concept. Between takes, the photographer and I discussed ways to cultivate that ethereal presence, ultimately using diffusion filters to achieve a dreamy yet striking visual impact. The final result proved delightfully surprising—a truly immersive character journey.
