Today I shot Master from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE at the Anime convention venue, and the texture of this outfit is simply stunning. The overall black, red, white, and gold color scheme delivers powerful visual impact; the top is made of glossy patent leather featuring a halter-neck deep V design, adorned with miniature skull buttons across the chest. To achieve this form-fitting look, I certainly put some effort into body shaping beforehand. The black pirate hat features a golden skull emblem on its brim, while the red bow tie and cuff ruffles add a touch of girlish charm. The lower half consists of black shorts paired with a white maid-style ruffled apron, complete with an exclusive badge on the apron, achieving a remarkably high level of detail accuracy.
When night fell at the Anime convention venue's outdoor area, the black background mixed naturally with distant car lights and street lamps to create dreamy bokeh, making it ideal for photography. Holding my prop, I struck several poses, such as touching the hat brim with one hand, pointing at the corner of my eye while winking, or sitting on a folding stool with my hand caressing my neck. The photographer excels at capturing this lazy yet slightly playful sensuality. Because the costume is made of a glossy material, it reflects intense specular highlights under light, making angle adjustments crucial during shooting to avoid overexposed reflections. Fortunately, the final images boast high-end chiaroscuro textures.
The wig chosen this time is a highly saturated magenta, with the twin-tails meticulously styled and the bangs trimmed to an appropriate length so they wouldn't easily get messy even during big movements. For makeup, the red shading at the outer corners of the eyes was intensified, which, paired with contact lenses, maximized the piercing intensity of my gaze.
One of the biggest highlights of this outfit is definitely these black glossy Over-the-knee boots. The boot openings feature gold-and-white piping and miniature skull decorations, which not only flatter the leg lines when worn but also elevate the overall presence. However, walking around the Anime convention venue all day in high-heeled Over-the-knee boots truly tests physical stamina, so I strongly recommend putting a soft cushion inside. Additionally, the glossy material easily picks up fingerprints and dust, so I kept wiping it with a microfiber cloth before shooting, which explains why the reflections on the clothing look so even in the photos. The deep V design also requires strict anti-wardrobe-malfunction measures, such as anti-exposure tape and invisible straps.
During the on-site shoot at the Anime convention venue, pose continuity and naturalness required constant tuning. I would first communicate the desired atmosphere with the photographer, such as showcasing the waistline from the side or using arm movements to enrich the geometric structure of the frame. Night shooting also requires attention to fill-light angles to avoid rigid shadows. Overall, this Master cosplay look has exceptionally high recognition at the Anime convention venue, and many passing friends would stop to take a second look. What I enjoy more is the process of bringing out that cool yet charming vibe from the original artwork. From ironing the costume and assembling accessories to adjusting makeup and controlling on-site lighting, every step demands serious dedication. This is what I have always persisted in doing as a coser, hoping to bring better visual presentations at every Anime convention venue.
