[Tohsaka Rin cosplay] Catching the Last Train of the FGO Shanghai Library Collaboration

Catching the final days of the Fate/Grand Order collaboration, my Sakura and I visited the Shanghai Library on Saturday. This offline FGO Shanghai Library collaboration was set up with great care, featuring many fellow fans and a fantastic atmosphere for trading freebies. Coming away with a rich haul after a full day, I couldn't resist documenting the details of this photoshoot.

For this outing, I cosplayed Tohsaka Rin, making several adjustments to the styling, wig, and makeup. Earlier in P6 and P7, I had experimented with using my natural hair, but upon comparison, wearing a styled wig proved far more faithful to the character. Her signature traits are distinct—the twin tails paired with ribbon hair bows are the core soul—so this wig was specifically given voluminous loose waves and layered bangs, making it look exceptionally photogenic. For contact lenses, I chose a vibrant blue pair; to make the gaze sharper, the eyeliner was drawn slightly longer, complemented by subtle highlight touches to align my overall facial contour with the character's confident aura.

To strike a balance between the indoor heating and outdoor walking, the outfit centered around a fitted red turtleneck long-sleeve base top. The white cross embroidery on the chest was instantly eye-catching, with neat, flattering lines at the collar and cuffs. For the bottom, I wore a high-waisted black pleated miniskirt ending right at mid-thigh, showcasing the sleek silhouette of the Black tights outfit. Since we spent hours walking through the exhibition halls, I specifically chose chunky black platform leather shoes, which elongated leg proportions while remaining comfortable to wear. Over this, a burgundy duffle coat provided great practicality in the chilly exhibition hall.

Choosing shooting locations also took careful thought. Photos 1 and 5 were taken standing beside life-sized character standees; the armored character detail was highly accurate, and keeping a slight distance for full-body shots seamlessly blended ACG elements with the real-world setting. Inside, the combination of wooden lattice backdrops and reflective glass offered soft, flattering lighting, resulting in a high yield of great shots. In the library stairwells and corners, we also attempted dynamic candid snaps; seeing that subtle motion blur in post-processing added an authentic, lively sense of running motion.

At lunchtime, we had a quick meal at a nearby restaurant and casually snapped several lifestyle photos. Switching to a white collared shirt with a red ribbon tie, taking off the coat, and letting the cat-ear headband echo the red accents instantly softened the mood under the restaurant's warm yellow overhead lights. In the evening, holding a giant glowing yellow balloon, we took several nighttime street shots. A gentle night breeze happened to blow, and the moment the balloon drifted in the dim surroundings looked phenomenal—even though the portrait was softly lit, it carried a cozy, languid late-night vibe.

What delighted me most during this offline event was the variety of fan-made freebies received—from holographic photo cards and acrylic badges to beautifully laid-out hand-drawn postcards and mini character standees, everyone showed boundless creativity. My desk was filled with these trophies upon returning, and organizing these little collectibles felt like curating a mini exhibition. Gathering offline with fellow fans over a shared love for Fate/Grand Order truly creates a warm sense of belonging.

Catching the last train of the collaboration left me with zero regrets. Balancing wig comfort, clothing fit, and accessories requires repeated fitting to reach peak performance, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the overall result. Even without elaborate studio lighting setups, candid, authentic snapshots often preserve the most vivid memories of Casual cosplay. I look forward to heading out and enjoying ourselves just as thoroughly next time.
