CPG anime convention is wrapped! This time I cosplayed Texas from Arknights. Preparing this outfit—a red shirt, green striped tie, black leather jacket, thigh holster straps, and tall boots—took quite a bit of effort. To achieve the best look, I spent a long time styling the grey-black plush wolf ears and wig, using hairspray to sculpt defined layers. Stepping out in the morning with makeup done and amber colored contacts in, I felt completely transformed into her.
Even though the leather jacket was lightweight, the convention halls were packed with crowds, making it quite stuffy and warm, and wearing colored contacts for hours made my eyes feel dry. However, driven by a genuine passion to faithfully portray the character, I kept the full gear on from start to finish. Whenever fans who love the character came up to say hi and ask for photos, all the discomfort instantly faded away.
This time, I mainly teamed up as the 'Twin wolves' duo with my friend cosplaying Lappland to run a booth. Although our table wasn't huge, our goal was simply to enjoy the day. We prepared for a long time to sell merch, and while staffing a booth was more tiring than expected, seeing fellow fans leave happily with their favorite goodies filled us with immense satisfaction.
Taking photos midway through the convention led to some hilarious moments. We originally planned a cool, arrogant 'bridal carry' pose just like in the original lore, but I totally overestimated my physical strength. I couldn't lift Lappland with her thick-soled platform boots and long coat at all—my legs started shaking the second I tried to scoop her up. We burst out laughing on the spot, and I quickly added a meme caption teasing my failed attempt. The resulting photos turned out even better than serious shots, capturing our great chemistry and comedic vibe.
Afterward, we walked around the hall and met up with another friend we had arranged to see (the one wearing elf ears and a white T-shirt). The three of us wove through the crowd, trading various freebies and swag, until our legs ached so much that we found a restaurant to sit down and eat.
Sitting down and chatting is always the best part. Over our meal, we rambled excitedly about upcoming characters to cosplay, outdoor shoot locations to visit, and props to craft. Before we knew it, our heads were filled with dozens of ambitious new plans and promises. Even knowing how hard it is to actually execute all of them, pinky-promising each time with boundless excitement is one of the most anticipated parts of doing cosplay.
The biggest surprise was when a friend handed me a metal spoon wrapped in plastic film at the table. He said it was a freebie gift from one of the booths, and since I'd been ordering takeout so often lately, he gave it to me. The spoon was solid quality and engraved with English lettering. I unwrapped and used it right away, deciding to make it my go-to eating utensil—practical gifts laced with community inside jokes are always the sweetest.
Heading home with sore, tired legs, my heart felt completely full during this brief day off. At the end of every convention, beyond commemorating our own hard work, the most precious part is spending an entire day with great friends who share your sense of humor and are always down to be goofy with you. So even after being dead tired, we'll meet again at the next convention, grab food together, and keep dreaming up hundreds of ambitious new cosplay plans.
