The makeup, styling, and costume detailing crafted for Demi this time around were exceptionally elaborate. Starting with the wig: to faithfully recreate the character design, I selected voluminous golden body-wave curls, blending heavy white highlights across the bangs and sides so its airy texture would reveal striking dimensional depth in the wind. The most meticulous aspect of the makeup was the Heterochromia—wearing a green contact lens on the left and a red one on the right. The eye makeup paired dramatic false eyelashes with delicate black mesh linework beneath the lower eyelids, while the brow bone was painted with white pigment to mask natural hairs, finished with a deliberate beauty mark dotted beside the lip.
The wardrobe channels a quintessential Western cowboy style fusion. The upper half features a black V-neck base layered beneath a buttoned black corset cincher, topped with a cropped brown leather jacket featuring dramatic Leather fringe along the cuffs and embroidered white star emblems. The lower half combines dark leather trousers with a wide brown leather belt and an apron-style overskirt stamped with purple rose floral patterns, finished with a long Leather fringe hem that sways dynamically in motion. Long black fingerless leather gauntlets and lace-up brown ankle boots served as crucial anchors to elevate the styling. To align with the rugged wilderness theme, custom body paint tattoo motifs were applied across the neck and décolletage.
Strong winds swept across the set on the day of the shoot, but we capitalized on the gusts to let the long hair whip organically, capturing that desolate, untamed freedom of the Western frontier. Posing choreography leaned into her bartender persona: tilting the hat brim low, raising hand props, pressing an index finger against the lips in a hushed gesture, and resting a hand on the hip while doffing the hat to evoke effortless poise and enigmatic charm. To ensure the leather grain and swaying Leather fringe gained sculpted dimensionality before the lens, we constantly adjusted reflector angles to heighten contrast between light and shadow. The entire series was executed against outdoor lawns and urban architectural backdrops; although the production was physically demanding, seeing the textured results made every ounce of preparation deeply rewarding.
