This time I'm presenting a Touhou cosplay of Kochiya Sanae from Touhou Project. A lot of thought went into the details of this anime cosplay costume—the blue and white skirt featuring star and shooting star prints looks visually very refreshing. The layered lace on the skirt hem and the fabric patchwork at the waist took a long time to make. I also specially searched for similar brocade fabric for the Japanese-style pattern on the sash. Combined with the frog ornament on the braid, I am quite satisfied with the overall texture and character accuracy. During the shoot, I deliberately chose several different angles, trying my best to capture the fluffiness of the sleeves as they drape down and the layers of the skirt as it twirls. Although the background is quite simple—just my wardrobe door at home—taking a few test shots indoors before going on an outdoor shoot helps me practice and better confirm the lighting and poses. The character Sanae holds a special meaning for me, and her sense of forward-charging conviction gave me a lot of inspiration during the shoot. The blue of this outfit looks even more skin-brightening under the camera lens than expected. My next plan is to find some more open locations to shoot some dynamic movements with the wind, which might better capture that feeling of the character gracefully dancing.
