[Saigyouji Yuyuko Cosplay] The Phantom Dream of Touhou Project, Shared Immediately After Shooting

In the instant the shutter is pressed in the studio, I truly feel this look come alive before the lens. This set of Saigyouji Yuyuko's outfit went through many detailed adjustments from drawing up materials to actual location scouting. The large expanses of lace and ruffles everyone sees in the pictures genuinely look amazing on camera, but the weight and complexity of putting it on are things only I know.

Before the shoot started, the parts I spent the most thought on were actually the cross-lacing on the chest and the intricate floral decorations at the waist. The entire upper garment structure is formed by stacking multiple layers of white hidden-pattern fabric and light blue gauze drapes. The neckline adopts a deep-V design to add breathing room, while fine pearl chains are dropped in a staggered manner below the collarbones. To fit the character's ethereal style, the cuffs adopt exaggerated layered ruffles. This wide sleeve type can form a very rich dynamic tension between movements; it has high requirements for the photographer's ability to catch dynamic moments, but it also adds a strong sense of fluidity to the photos.

The wig chosen this time was pale pink, with finely trimmed straight bangs at the forehead, and fluffy slight curls done at the cheeks and hair ends. To match the overall watercolor-like color palette, I didn't make the facial makeup overly high-contrast, but blended blush along the skin tone and accented the eye area with some rhinestones. This high-shimmer makeup effect looks especially capable of reflecting the soft and dreamy Dreamy doll style atmosphere of the entire frame under soft light, and fits relatively well with some playful settings in Touhou Project fan-works. Trying this large-area rhinestone eye makeup for the first time took a bit long to paste, but when the official photos came out and I saw the fine glints echoing the pupils, I felt this step was highly worth it.

For the scene arrangement, to maximize the display of the costume's color layers, we selected a clean and bright indoor set. To avoid an overly monotonous background, we slightly borrowed a bit of greenery and white gauze curtains as a blurred foreground. The lighting during the shoot was mainly diffuse soft light, which can control the grayscale of the four colors—white, blue, pink, and purple—and reduce the phenomenon of overshadowing the main subject.

In terms of styling creation, the split ratio between the upper and lower body is very important. The skirt petticoat combined with layers of purple-blue chiffon and lace can showcase very beautiful leg lines when squatting, sitting, or standing. During the shooting process of this Lace dress photography session, we also utilized folding fans and handheld butterfly shapes as visual guidance. These props can not only enrich the frame's composition but also help the model present more natural and vivid postures in front of the lens. Especially when holding that light blue lace fan for the first time, the overlapping touch of silk and lace instantly immersed me in the scenario.

Regarding the fan-creations and expressions of this massive series of Touhou Project, every enthusiast has their own understanding. In this set of photos, I focused on presenting a lightweight, dreamy, and somewhat gorgeous feel. This is not just a showcase of an outfit, but an experience of concretizing visual aesthetics. The rise and fall of each petal-like skirt hem, the constraint trace of each ribbon, finally frozen before the lens, are all restoring her unique charm that is both playful and slightly blurry.

After three hours of shooting, the roots of my hair have become a bit disheveled due to wearing the hat, but looking at the preview images on the screen, I feel the fatigue is completely offset. The busyness of location work and the repeated adjustments of indoor lighting are all transformed into memories worth treasuring within the sound of the shutter. I don't want everyone to just let their eyes linger on the gorgeous skirt hem; in fact, the red sequin symbol on the hat, the craftsmanship of the butterfly pendant—these tiny details are the soul of the entire look.

After organizing the raw photos, while the shooting inspiration hasn't faded yet, I synced out these few photos where I feel my state is quite good as part of my Casual cosplay records at the first moment. Although the formal long strips and typesetting videos are still in production, these few snapshots leaked in advance via phone serve as a preliminary conclusion to today's shoot. Every time I step into the inner world of a 2D character, it feels like a brand-new journey. I hope this beauty in my eyes can also make you feel the charm of Touhou Project. I am very satisfied with the styling details and makeup texture this time, and the shooting process was incomparably smooth. To express the lightness of the upper body and the drape of the lower body, the stylist spent a lot of energy on the base layers; thank you very much for the team's cooperation.
