[Hiyuki cosplay] Wuthering Waves Form-Two Interpretation: A Small Regret of Forgetting the Contact Lens Swap

Today's photo set was shot in a studio utilizing two distinct background setups.

The first set featured dark wooden partitions and Japanese-style sliding doors over wood plank flooring; paired with low-angle seated poses, it crafted a cozy, casual domestic mood. The second scene swapped in white sheer mesh drapes, accented with tall emerald bamboo stalks and a few orange-red maple branches alongside a large bamboo daybed, instantly elevating the atmosphere into an ethereal, fairy-like dreamscape.

The primary visual anchor for this character lies in the white-and-blue gradient costume design. The off-shoulder cut bodice features a dark blue narrow ribbon at the neckline to emphasize collarbone contours. Flowing chiffon cuffs adorned with blue piping and ribbons allow natural hand movements to add dynamic grace during Cosplay photography sessions. The skirt design is especially unique: the lower half features layered blue-and-white gradient skirt panels with a high side-slit outer layer over a shorter safety underskirt. This structure cleanly displays leg contours during seated or reclining poses, while transparent chunky-heeled platform sandals visually elongate calf length.

For the wig and hair ornaments, long straight white hair with full bangs was used, showing brilliant luster under strong studio lighting. A blue-and-white fabric bow rested atop the head, harmonizing with the costume's palette. Makeup focused on soft treatment for eyebrows and eyeliner, keeping eye contours crisp and clear to grant the gaze a bright, transparent quality. A delicate silver necklace rested against the pale skin tone as a refined accent.

Prop combinations were meticulously arranged. The waist-slung long blade featured a white hilt and blue scabbard, decorated with multiple blue-and-white tassels that served as both weaponry and ornament. Positioned on the floor or leaned against low tea tables during shooting, it established an untamed persona for this ACG Cosplayer. The dark solid-wood tea table held a wooden sake set rack neatly displaying white sake cups and a porcelain flask, filling negative space in still-life compositions.

While shooting on the bamboo daybed, I went barefoot. A blue beaded anklet on the ankle caught close-up shots, where blue-purple beads created striking color harmony against wood textures and white gauze. Going barefoot shed the constraints of modern footwear, aligning closely with how an Ancient-style Xianxia character naturally relaxes in a quiet retreat.

The minor regret of this shoot was forgetting to swap eye colors, as mentioned in the title. According to original character lore, entering form two requires wearing light-colored or heterochromatic contact lenses to express a transformed aura. However, in the rush of resetting sets and lighting, this key step was overlooked during makeup. It was only while reviewing raw shots after the first set that I realized my eyes remained their standard dark tone. Although I contemplated putting them on for reshoots, the makeup and lighting were at their most natural state, so I decided to keep this honest imperfection.

An out-of-character (OOC) feeling might indeed exist, as a form transformation often starts with the eyes. Yet looking at it another way, these photos faithfully record foundational accuracy in costuming, hair styling, and emotional presence. The cool composure captured in studio, combined with well-tuned lighting and set design, retains strong visual impact. Throughout the shoot—whether holding the katana or handling sake cups—I strived to stay anchored in that poised, composed temperament.

Post-processing avoided over-retouching, focusing on tuning overall brightness and color temperature to highlight cool white-and-blue tones. Specular highlights on the white wig were carefully preserved to prevent blown-out whites. Although this white-and-blue Ancient-style Xianxia set didn't reach absolute lore perfection due to eye color, it remains a dedicated, thoroughly prepared studio shoot experience. Documenting genuine mistakes is, after all, part of the Cosplay photography journey itself.
