Volume two of my Chisa photoshoot series is finally ready to share. To echo the summer season, we relocated the shoot to an indoor artificial beach and poolside studio. Compared to the first set, this series introduces fresh explorations in wardrobe, set dressing, and pose design.
Beginning with the styling: the outfit centers on a pink-and-white gingham Anime-style swimsuit. The top is adorned with cascading ruffles and red tie-up ribbons, matched below with a gauzy pink sheer sarong skirt. To preserve Chisa's signature recognition, I wore a sleek black straight wig topped with a white sun hat featuring trailing pink ribbons. For makeup, I emphasized reddish eyeshadow gradients paired with crimson circle lenses, aiming for an airy yet subtly cheeky charm before the lens. Posing completely barefoot without shoes or stockings was a real physical challenge; coarse sand grains and slick poolside tiles continuously tested my balance, but this uninhibited tactile realism was indispensable for an authentic coastal beach aesthetic.
The set design was staged with remarkable care—incorporating real white sand alongside blue-and-white mosaic pool coping. The prop team arranged red-and-white and blue-and-white striped loungers, a massive yellow swim ring, water blasters, a metallic ice bucket filled with ice cubes and glass beverage bottles, and rustic wooden fruit crates. To emulate intense summer sunlight, the gaffer used high-color-temperature key lights supplemented by frontal and side fill, producing that vivid, sun-drenched transparency even indoors. Though the lighting looked brilliantly warm, ambient studio temperatures were actually quite chilly; holding poses in swimwear without heating required genuine endurance.
In posing choreography, we explored diverse physical expressions. Reclining cross-legged across the beach lounger accentuated bodily curves and a languid vacation mood. Shots seated along the pool's edge leveraged spatial vanishing lines and the cool tones of blue-and-white tiles to create bold chromatic contrast against the pink swimwear. For the frame seated poolside hugging my knees, the photographer worked through multiple angles to capture that natural downward gaze as a breeze fluttered the tips of my hair. Framing heart-hand gestures broke static aloofness, injecting playful interactivity with the lens. I maintained constant expression control throughout, as crimson lenses under brilliant lighting can easily appear unfocused if the gaze isn't locked deliberately onto the lens.
The shoot tested both stamina and patience. Walking across sand naturally kicked up grit, requiring dusting off the skin before every take, while the metal drain grates along the pool edge left impressions on the soles of my feet—yet these raw marks are natural milestones in pursuing visual excellence. Watching the smooth gradient of light across skin and the dynamic clash of prop colors dissolved all prior exhaustion. Preserving raw barefoot details invites everyone to feel the tangible heat of stepping onto summer sands.
With high color saturation, the pink swimwear and cyan pool complemented each other gorgeously. In post-processing, I insisted on retaining authentic skin texture rather than airbrushing away detail, preserving the genuine highlights and cast shadows painted by sunlight. Photography is never mere documentation; it is an act of artistic co-creation with the character. From the sleek sheen of the wig and circle lens hues to the placement of every prop, each component underwent rigorous refinement. Volume three is already in pre-production, where we may explore a completely different lighting aesthetic, and I look forward to sharing more visual journeys with you.
