This cosplay of Hiyuki from Wuthering Waves finally materializes the temperament of "Abyss dead end, endless". When I first got this outfit, I was actually quite unsure, because Hiyuki's character setting is very special, possessing both classical Japanese-style beauty and a sense of danger and detachment. To fit the theme of Wuthering Waves creative incentives, from the early costume preparation to the later shooting, the whole process involved repeatedly pondering the core of the character.
This outfit is a modified Japanese-style design. The top is a white off-the-shoulder design with black trim on the edges, and to make the layering richer, a red lining was added inside. A black leather corset and straps were used at the waist, and the lower body consists of denim shorts paired with a red mesh tulle skirt. This collision of modern techwear style and traditional Japanese style fits the character's setting very well. The wig chosen is medium-long straight silver-white hair, with a simple updo specially styled on top of the head, leaving a few stray strands to modify the face shape, which makes it look more natural in front of the lens.
Makeup is the focus this time. To get closer to the character, I wore red contact lenses, and the eye makeup used red-toned smudging with the outer corners of the eyes deliberately elongated to make the gaze look sharper. The nails were also specially painted red. For props, a red samurai sword was prepared, with black and gold decorations on the scabbard, and it has a lot of weight when held in hand. In terms of scenes, red Japanese-style lattice doors, cherry blossom trees, and red spider lilies were set up. Pink cherry blossoms represent vitality, while red spider lilies represent death; this strong color contrast happens to fit the theme of "Abyss dead end".
During the shoot, lighting and composition were crucial. Standing and half-body shots utilized cherry blossoms as the foreground, and soft light hitting the face highlighted the translucent texture of the skin. The third photo deliberately chose a front angle, leaning forward slightly to showcase the deep V neckline of the dress and the lines of the collarbone, being sexy without being vulgar. For the sitting pose, the red sword was placed horizontally on the floor, legs naturally extended, with a red-and-white patterned folding screen in the background, making the picture full of tension. The entire shooting process was actually quite physically demanding; wearing a long-sleeved tulle dress and a corset, I needed to repeatedly stand up and sit down to adjust to a perfect angle.
I didn't deliberately strike too many weak and cute poses, relying more on my gaze and body language to convey that coexistence of detachment and danger. The photographer helped a lot with the lighting; for example, the moment of raising a hand to lightly touch the cherry blossom, the edges of the silver-white hair glowing under the backlight looked exceptionally good. Every detail of this photo set, from the texture of the clothing, the matching of props to the layout of the scene, strived for restoration and careful effort, hoping to convey this resolute atmosphere.
