[Flandre Scarlet Cosplay] Touhou Project fanon swimsuit, summer sprite under the sunlight

This time I am bringing the fanon swimsuit styling of Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project. Because the original design clothing is relatively heavy, I deliberately chose this summer swimsuit with a Lolita style, featuring an overall red-and-white color scheme and very rich details.

Let's talk about the clothing coordination first. The main body of this swimsuit is a red-and-white interleaved design, with a large amount of lace and ruffles used at the neckline and skirt hem. To enhance the fairy-tale feel, I sewed brown plush bear dolls on the skirt hem and waist sides, and also matched them with beaded necklaces and bracelets of various colors. The most painstaking part was that huge white lace sun hat, with the brim manually decorated with various silk flowers and green leaves, and a very eye-catching red heart decoration added on the front. This provides a very good sun-shading effect when the outdoor sunlight is strong, while also making the silhouette of the styling fuller.

In terms of makeup and hair, to get close to that doll-like temperament in the fanon, I wore a bright golden curly wig, with the hair strands styled to have a fluffy feel. Eye makeup is the focus this time: I wore red-toned circle lenses, matched with eyeshadow and eyeliner of the same color family, drawing a relatively exaggerated heart-shaped eye makeup. Combined with a pale base makeup and bright red lip gloss, it presents an extremely strong visual impact in front of the lens.

The shooting location was chosen as an outdoor open-air pool. The sunlight on the shooting day was very harsh, but the light texture was fantastic, and the light spots reflected by the blue pool water hit the character very translucently. To match the summer theme, I prepared many props, including a transparent inflatable float mat, bright red apples, red heart-shaped sunglasses, and that black curved prop hanging with colorful diamond-shaped pendants. Figure 2 is the posture of sitting on the transparent float mat with crossed legs, an angle that can well showcase the leg lines and the layers of the swimsuit skirt hem.

The shooting process was actually quite not easy. That transparent float mat was very unstable on the water surface and needed an assistant to pull it from the side to maintain balance. For the apple-throwing action (Figure 5), to capture the perfect moment, it took many NGs, and the apple fell into the water several times. Also, that black curved prop was actually self-made using lightweight materials, with the colorful triangles hanging on it made of acrylic sheets, creating a refractive effect under the sunlight.

As a fanon attempt, on the basis of retaining Flandre's classic elements, I added more summer and water park atmosphere. Although the outdoor shoot was hard and my skin got a bit sunburned, seeing the combination of light, shadow, and color in the finished photos made me feel that everything was totally worth it.
