This set was specifically chosen in this indoor scene with retro wooden furniture and mottled walls to match the overall styling of the lace dress and classical elements. I hope everyone can feel the atmosphere of a quiet manor night through these photos.
First, let's talk about the wig and hairstyle. The silver-white twin braids can be said to be the soul features of this character. To make the texture of the braids look natural and substantial, I repeatedly adjusted the tightness of the braids during styling. The fluffy bangs on both sides need to fit the face shape, and combined with the hair flow of the wig, it prevents a stiff look. The headpiece on top contains a large amount of white lace and black satin ribbons, and the layered structure needs to be carefully fixed on the side and back.
In terms of clothing, this dark blue floral lace dress is very elaborately crafted. The chest is patched with rich lace trim, and the tight corset design combined with white straps makes the sitting posture and body posture during shooting quite demanding. For the exaggerated white ruffles on the shoulders, I specifically chose relatively rigid fabrics so that they could support the three-dimensional silhouette in front of the lens. The black lace and bow ribbon at the neckline add layers to the whole, while the golden pearl buttons on the chest are the finishing touch, enhancing the overall exquisiteness.
The highlight this time is naturally the prop—the retro brass pocket watch. The pocket watch is not only a part of the styling, but it also carries the character's core setting. During the shoot, I specifically designed several different poses to display it, such as letting it hang naturally from the chain in hand, or gently pinching the dial with my hand. When the light hits the metal surface, that nostalgic reflective texture instantly maximizes the sense of story.
For the finished photos, I must especially thank the photographer @绿豆ldx for his delicate control of light and shadow. This set of photos makes extensive use of side backlighting and warm fill light, accurately outlining the contour of the lace edges and allowing the silver-white wig and dark blue skirt to form a good cold and warm contrast. The retro table lamp on the left and the carved wooden cabinet on the right serve as foreground and background, which also well set off the overall classical oil painting texture. When posing, I had to sit and lean half-way, and sometimes lift the pocket watch; although the dress is very voluminous and movements were restricted, under the photographer's guidance, I still found poses that were relatively relaxed and fit the theme.
Although the setup and changing costumes during the shooting process were quite troublesome, seeing those exquisite details in the final images makes the hard work worth it. This kind of European retro-style photo not only tests the replication of the clothing but also requires emotional expression towards the lens. I hope this set of images about time and the maid can bring you a moment of tranquility and immersion. As part of my Cosplay daily life, this shoot was truly a memorable experience.
