Bringing this Touhou fanon duo to life for Touhou Project was weeks in the making. Flandre Scarlet and Sakuya Izayoi embody an innate visual clash: red against blue, warm gold against cool silver. Flandre's styling embraced a sweet, frilled lolita dress layered with lace, freshwater pearl trims, and crimson tones, while Sakuya's gothic maid aesthetic utilized black lace, crisscrossed cord corsetry, and crisp organza layers to evoke cold elegance.

Wig styling was paramount: Flandre's blonde spirals were curled and locked with high-hold spray, while Sakuya's silver bob was backcombed to build distinct, sharp layers. Hand-sewn glass beadwork caught the harsh poolside sunlight, utilizing the water's surface as a giant natural fill reflector to cast rim lighting against backlit frames. Capturing high-speed water splashes demanded rapid burst shooting.

Wading and splashing water proved physically grueling. Sakuya's voluminous maid skirts grew heavy when soaked, while Flandre's sheer fabrics clung closer to the body before drying. Props like crimson apples, plush teddy bears, and colorful stream flags deepened the narrative contrast—balancing playful childhood whimsy with quiet gothic drama.
