[Seiga Kaku Cosplay] Fitting Record for Seiga in Touhou Secondary Setting

This mirror selfie was mainly taken to try on my Seiga Kaku cosplay outfit. The moment I put on this gear, I could feel how rich the layering was in this Secondary setting version of the costume.

The light blue curly wig is extremely voluminous; the circular hair hoop at the top was specifically supported with metallic reflective thread material to give it a thick, 3D structure, while the curly bangs fall right along both sides of my cheeks, framing my facial shape perfectly.

The top features a halter-neck style, where handcrafted golden chains and fine silver beads interconnect at the collar and drape down to the center of the collarbone, offering a touch of ornate embellishment as metals collide with fabric textures. The translucent sheer sleeves really test your walking posture—they easily snag if you're not careful—but this light, airy feel aligns well with the slightly fantastical vibe of the character's Secondary setting.

That broad off-white outerwear is embossed with subtle floral jacquard patterns, with dark blue block strips and plenty of blue lace trimming sewn at the shoulder-sleeve junctions. This color contrast is strikingly vibrant; the standing pose in photo 1 showcases the sleeve drape beautifully, but in terms of composition and layered presentation, the seated pose in photo 2 reveals the voluminous, wave-like ruffled hemline much better.

Sitting on the wooden floor naturally showcases the extending lines of the stockings and legs. Comparing these two poses, the seated picture offers superior depth and spatial extension, fully displaying the overall tailoring volume of the outfit.

Since this is an Anime convention costume fitting phase, I repeatedly adjusted hair accessories with hair clips to keep them from bobbing up and down while walking. Organizing the overlap between outer layers and the skirt took quite some time, but looking back in the mirror, I felt this design—which doesn't chase strict original fidelity—actually allows more creative freedom for upcoming outdoor shoots.

As a Gensokyo character from Touhou Project, Seiga Kaku's Secondary setting fan arts often incorporate more Chinese retro flair or magical fantasy elements. This outfit blends light blue with pure white, complemented by generous ruffles; rather than a simple historical garment, it feels like a fantastical light-Chinesestyle long dress, emitting a flowing, ethereal presence when worn.

I must say, for a cosplayer, the biggest test with such heavily layered outfits is those ten minutes spent sitting in front of the mirror tidying the skirt hem. Thankfully, the wooden floor was clean, so I could sit cross-legged directly on it to adjust the delicate sheer fabrics without worrying about dirt. Overall, the light blue wig coordinates harmoniously with the outfit's soft color saturation.

Though mirror selfies lack professional studio lighting, natural light genuinely reflects the outfit's true color shades. I deliberately chose this seated angle because bending my legs slightly exhibits the lower skirt structure while preventing the shot from looking rigid. Seeing the worn effect in the mirror, I found the outfit's design ingenious—it maintains rich depth while flattering the body silhouette. The dark blue geometric panels on the outerwear are three-dimensionally tailored with great shape retention, preventing a slouchy look. Although the gold collar chain is decorative, it creates a wonderful visual contrast against light-toned fabrics. Overall, Secondary setting designs rely heavily on costume texture; looking at photos alone, most people might miss collar details, so I deliberately adjusted my phone's position during fitting to direct focus onto the fine craftsmanship of the upper bodice.

The entire fitting process took nearly an hour from putting everything on to fine-tuning details. I felt very satisfied with the results, making this part of my Cosplay daily life a great boost in confidence for the upcoming finished photos.
