With intense summer sunlight falling directly across my face, this Touhou Project Flandre Scarlet attire finally came to life under clear skies with the dreamiest atmosphere. Preparing this costume took considerable time: the wig required meticulous styling to maintain fluffy, airy curls, and those colorful little butterfly hairpins had to be pinned individually onto the braided hair. For makeup, red contact lenses and pink eyeshadow were central highlights; to channel an authentic doll-like presence, I adhered tiny heart-shaped glitters around the eye area. The outfit details were equally intricate: an oversized wide-brimmed floral hat, cascading layers of sheer tulle, and a necklace woven with colorful beads and bows—all of which added substantial weight. Balancing such an expansive hat under the blazing sun while keeping expressions effortless was a true test of physical endurance. During the session, I deliberately explored two contrasting perspectives: a top-down close-up that locked focus onto facial nuances and chest lace craftsmanship, and a low-angle upward shot framed against blue skies and urban silhouettes, where flashing a peace sign brought out lively, spirited energy. Because ambient sunlight was intense, constantly adjusting facial angles was essential to keep harsh shadows from breaking up the makeup. Although shooting in midsummer heat was sweltering and sweat occasionally dampened the wig netting, seeing the exquisite layers and fidelity realized on camera made every moment worthwhile. That creative payoff remains the greatest joy behind every meticulously prepped cosplay project.
