This time, my partner and I cosplayed Mai Xiaowen and Zoya from Delta Force, finally assembling these two tactical kits we've been dreaming of. Preparing tactical-style cosplay is truly a major undertaking—from costume nuances to prop textures, every single step requires repeated verification.

First, regarding my Mai Xiaowen: red hair paired with tactical goggles, a white stand-up collar base layer beneath a black leather jacket worn slouched off one shoulder to add an uninhibited, rebellious flair. For the bottom, I wore a black leather skirt and chunky platform combat boots. To capture that crisp yet rebellious operator presence, I deliberately chose a leather jacket with a subtle sheen that reflects dynamic light and shadow under indoor illumination. Subtle accessories like the chest ID lanyard and fingerless tactical gloves might seem inconspicuous, but they are absolutely pivotal in elevating overall fidelity. Holding pistol and rifle props while striking poses delivered immense immersion—this tactical girl aesthetic is undeniably appealing.

Now for my partner's Zoya: silver-grey short hair paired with a blue-grey camo cropped top beneath an olive-green tactical vest, rounded out with distressed tight leather pants and tactical leg rigs. Her vest is packed with pouches and webbing straps, draped with a sniper veil/camo netting on the back to enrich dimensional layering. The tight leather pants not only sculpt the leg silhouette, but paired with thigh holster straps, instantly max out the combat readiness for a clean, sharp look.

We took mirror selfies in the hotel room. In the crouching shot, I rested my weapon against the floor while she held her long rifle; in the standing shot, she held the phone to capture a cleaner, fuller composition. Wearing so many tactical accessories while steadying hefty weapon props really tests core stability during poses—especially when crouching, where holding a tight core is essential to prevent outfits from disheveling while minding barrel angles to avoid awkward overlaps or blocking the line of sight. Seeing the finished shots, though, made all the preparation completely worthwhile.

Layering tactical gear requires careful balance—such as unifying textures across leather jackets and skirts, and harmonizing color palettes between camouflage and tactical vests. While dressing, we smoothed every edge as much as possible to avoid unnecessary bulkiness. This shoot was an exciting venture into tactical-style cosplay; whether in fabric coordination or prop interaction, there's always room for further polish. If we get the chance to visit more hardcore outdoor locations in the future, like an abandoned industrial factory, we can capture an even more authentic gritty atmosphere. Organizing all these photos and gear took quite a while, but documenting the whole journey was pure joy.
