Following my junior disciple sister to ride the subway and experience mortal life while heading to a Genshin Impact only exhibition—this is probably the wondrous way Cloud Retainer's disciple duo opens their daily life. Since these are completely personal headcanons, we made minor adjustments to the costume designs. Instead of completely replicating the characters' classic appearances, we added more daily and practical elements. For instance, my skirt leans more toward a lightweight Western-style dress, and my junior's outfit was also simplified for travel, making it convenient to weave through the subway commute.
The first photo was taken inside the subway carriage through the reflection on the door. Since it was during a brief stop, we quickly pulled out our phones to snap a shot. Although the glass reflection gave the frame a slightly cluttered background, it ironically provided a very special light and shadow texture. The second photo is a full-body shot taken outside the platform's screen doors, right when we were preparing to transfer lines. With passengers passing by at the time, wearing a cosplay outfit in a daily life scene felt absolutely wondrous, truly putting into practice the concept of "entering the mortal world." This captures the joy of Ganyu Cosplay and Shenhe cosplay.
Actually, the most interesting part is the third picture, which is the freshly printed physical photo I'm holding in my hand. My biggest realization at this Chengdu Anime Convention was that the on-site supporting services are getting intensely competitive. After shooting the final cuts with my friend and walking back to the rest area, we saw booths offering on-site editing and printing. The photo output speed was shockingly fast. Moreover, the price was extremely reasonable—you could print a highly clear photo with great color reproduction for just ten yuan. For us cosplayers, being able to get a physical commemorative photo right at the convention venue feels far more precious than viewing an electronic version on a phone. By the way, what kind of normal person would bring that Honkai: Star Rail collaboration bucket to a Genshin Impact only event? Munching on fried chicken right at the exhibition after taking photos was hilarious, completely maxing out the sense of contrast.
Although waking up early to squeeze onto the subway for the convention was indeed a bit exhausting, the experience of the entire process was excellent. The atmosphere among fellow fans and these extremely convenient on-site photography and printing services made this outing experience highly fulfilling. Fixing back and forth between the subway and the exhibition is a very vivid facet of our cosplay life. I hope you enjoy this anime convention sharing.
