[Genshin Impact Puppet Cosplay] Transforming into a Cat Doll on a Red Sofa

When shooting this set of photos, I specifically chose a well-heated studio because the outfit has a rather large area of exposed skin around the shoulders and neck, and it's easy for the cold to affect one's condition if the temperature isn't high enough. The red leather sofa is a real highlight of the scene; the warm-toned genuine leather material and the cool-toned blue oversleeves and skirt hem form a retro color-blocking visual tension. Once the tufted button texture of the sofa is blurred by the depth of field, it happens to enrich the texture of the background, preventing the image from looking too flat.

In terms of styling, this time I focused on using a white ruffled headband, fluffy fox ears (although this style was chosen to complement the cat theme), and that black collar ornament inlaid with a ruby. The cut of the collar piece is very three-dimensional, beautifully accentuating the collarbone and shoulder lines. Combined with the detached oversleeves design, white gloves tightening at the fingertips, and dark blue sleeve tubes with wine-red piping, the overall look has a doll-like exquisiteness. The white off-the-shoulder low-cut top paired with white over-knee socks is indeed a combination that showcases the character's temperament without losing cuteness; the tight wrapping line of the over-knee socks at the thighs looks exceptionally well-proportioned in the sitting pose.

For the makeup part, a clear base paired with high-saturation blue colored contacts is the key to drawing attention. The outer corners of the eyes were blended softly with pink eyeshadow, softening the sharp look of typical 2D makeup, which matches the light gold hair color perfectly. The wig was trimmed in layers so the front bangs don't look heavy, and the ends were given a natural subtle curl, allowing a soft transition into the contour of the fluffy ears so it doesn't look as stiff as a standard wig set. The facial highlights were applied with restraint, mainly to maintain a matte texture on the face and avoid oily reflections under the strong studio lights.

We shot two sets of posing options. The first photo features a sitting pose with crossed legs and a cat paw gesture, leaning my whole body against the back of the vintage sofa with my gloved fingers curled up, trying as much as possible to express that lazy and playful feeling of a "kitty cat" from the title; the crossed leg especially extends the visual center of gravity nicely. The second photo narrows the focus slightly, making a shushing gesture with a hand while keeping a colder, aloof gaze to express the mysterious aura from the character's original setting. However, to fit the theme of cuteness, I also infused a bit of a soft smile into the gaze of the second photo rather than maintaining a completely cold face.

The clothing accessories were made quite meticulously; the skirt hem has a wine-red double-layered ruffle, and the waist features three-dimensional gold buckles as decorations—all details that elevate the completion rate of the costume. Since I needed to present the quality of being "cute," my body posture during the shooting process was very relaxed. Even though the lighting setup washed out some details in certain spots, post-processing instead preserved this ambient feel under natural light. The retouching did not intentionally stretch body proportions; instead, fine-tunings were made based on the original photo's head-to-shoulder ratio, as the overall goal was to stay as close as possible to the exquisite doll art style brought by the original work.

During the actual shooting process, I also paid special attention to the angles of the hair and the animal ears. Because the plush ear attachments are fixed onto a headband base, they needed to blend seamlessly with the wig so as not to look out of place. I asked the stylist to pull out some of the side hair of the wig slightly to just cover the edges of the headband, which made the ears look as if they were naturally growing out from within the hair strands.

All in all, this planning for the Genshin Impact Puppet Cosplay focused heavily on balancing cuteness with the character's inherently mysterious and somewhat cold attributes. The pairing of fluffy accessories with the leather sofa enriched the texture of the image significantly, while the white over-knee socks and off-the-shoulder design also gave this Anime-style fashion look a stronger visual memory point. Without intentionally using many extra props, relying solely on the character's own costume design details and the scene harmony was enough for the frame to express the intended atmosphere. The Cosplay photography also helped me capture the brilliance of those blue colored contacts wonderfully, making the visual focus of the entire face incredibly clear.
