[Fischl Cosplay] Genshin Impact's Prinzessin der Verurteilung, Purple Plaid in the Dark Night

This purple and black plaid uniform paired with a black suit jacket and a white midriff-baring shirt, along with the metal chains and leg ring details, really has a strong presence on the street. On the day of the shoot, we divided into day and night sessions. During the day, we captured natural light by the white louvered wall and glass railings, which brought out a strong, refreshing Japanese school vibe. But what surprised me most were the night portrait sets: the slow-shutter traffic light trails on the zebra crossing combined with motion-blurred pedestrians maxed out the urban night stroll atmosphere.

The twin tails of the wig were tied with black bows, the eyepatch was secured in position, and the colored contact lenses were specially chosen in emerald green to form a slight asymmetrical beauty with the white eyepatch. The rivets on the jacket and the ties on the cuffs added a bit of punk temperament to the overall look, but the purple plaid tie and pleated skirt balanced it with softness. The photographer was great at catching angles during the shoot, especially the set on the steps with a blue light base; the cool-toned light reflected on the black stockings lines made the texture incredibly prominent. I intentionally maintained a slight high angle or a downcast gaze to better match the character's slightly haughty yet cute vibe.

Actually, the waist of this outfit features a cropped cut, slightly revealing the waistline, and combined with the leg ring on the thigh, it visually elongates the body proportions. The single-leg raised movement at night was quite a test of balance, but I tried several times to present a light and agile state, and fortunately, the final result is very satisfying. The combination of black leather shoes and black stockings reflected beautifully under the streetlights. The photographer also used a small fill light coming from the back-side to outline the character's silhouette, avoiding the dullness of a completely black background.

For the makeup, I chose a cool-toned matte foundation. The eyeshadow was a blend of light purple and silver gray, and the eyeliner was slightly upturned. Paired with the rose-colored lip glaze on the lips, the look fits perfectly during the day without being washed out by the blue light of the night portrait scene. During breaks, we also shot some street signs and neon lights as blurred foregrounds, which I feel could be made into a collage poster during post-processing layout, though the single photos shared here show more details. Every time I do a shoot for this kind of uniform-style character, I pay special attention to the clothing wrinkles and the draping of accessories—such as the crossbody small bag and the metal star-shaped chain around the waist, which sway naturally when walking, making the captured dynamic moments highly vivid.

This outdoor shoot lasted from the afternoon until after 9 PM; although it was tiring, it was completely worth it. The natural light during the day was soft, making all the prints and textures on the clothing clearly visible. The neon lights and traffic trails at night gave the photos more narrative depth, like a mysterious girl weaving through a bustling city. During the shoot, I also adjusted my movements according to the scene. For example, the sitting pose on the steps should be relaxed, with hands naturally resting on the knees; by the railing, I needed to utilize the extension of the arms and the tilt of the body to create dynamic movement. Of course, we uniformly applied a slight cool tone to the colors in post-processing to make the black, white, and purple colors purer, allowing the yellow wig to stand out better in the dark light.

Lastly, a good set of convention photos cannot do without a proper scene and attentive lighting. For the daytime set, I especially love the photo where I lean against the white striped wall. Although the composition is simple, the subject is prominent with sharp color contrasts. The same goes for the intersection photo in the night portrait set, which utilized a slow shutter speed to give the background a sense of flow while I remained perfectly still as the main subject. This contrast between movement and stillness created a strong visual tension. This shoot gave me a deeper understanding of the outfit styling for this character. Whether in terms of accessory choices or grasping the overall temperament, it was a pretty successful attempt of Cosplay photography.
