Today, I shot a set of Honor of Kings Gongsun Li Cosplay Convention photo pictures, and while the momentum is fresh, I wanted to document the experience. The venue was set in an abandoned industrial factory; the concrete floor and weathered walls naturally brought a cold, rugged texture that formed a vivid visual contrast against the dreamy blue-and-white gown. The lighting relied primarily on overhead white fluorescent tubes, creating crisp lines in the frame that outlined the figure beautifully with minimal extra fill light.
Regarding the outfit, this multi-layered dress combined a dark blue ruffled skirt accented by blue roses and white star patterns, adding rich visual depth. To faithfully recreate the character's signature look, the plush Bunny ears with pink inner lining were an absolute essential—wearing them instantly breathed life into the persona. The giant blue petal wings and trailing ribbons on the back required extra care while moving; though heavy, their fluttering motion when catching the breeze or during poses looked incredible. The slender green wand in my hand was also packed with detail, and holding it steady required adjusting my wrist angles multiple times in front of the lens.
For makeup, I deliberately deepened the blue eyeshadow and eyeliner, pairing them with the light blue long hair and pink blush. While the makeup looked intense in person, it rendered perfectly under the cool fluorescent lighting. Styling the wig was another meticulous effort: straight bangs and long straight hair needed to look sleek without hugging the scalp, requiring careful flat-ironing.
The shoot was quite a test of endurance. Standing poses required maintaining an upright posture throughout; for the glancing-back pose in Picture 3, I tested it repeatedly to capture the dynamic flow of the streamers. Standing barefoot in clear high-heel sandals with pointed toes was genuinely exhausting, but I pushed through to keep the body lines clean. Sitting on the white plush rug in Picture 2 meant finding an angle that showcased the leg contours without looking cramped—extending one leg while bending the other, the clear high heels and blue leg warmers (reminiscent of Stockings accents) introduced a hint of allure, though holding that pose demanded serious core strength, needing breaks every dozen frames.
As a cosplayer frequently attending conventions and outdoor shoots, every successful set depends on thorough preparation and post-production coordination. This color scheme stood out brilliantly against the industrial backdrop. Because of the bulky props, movement was restricted, requiring real-time on-site adjustments—ensuring the wings remained securely positioned without revealing mounting rigs and keeping the skirt folds neatly arranged. The makeup held up well despite the sultry indoor heat without air conditioning, thanks to a solid base application.
Every cosplay is a conversation with the character: beyond recreating the appearance, it is about capturing that agile, battle-ready essence. Even though this wasn't an active combat form, I still infused sharpness into my gaze. I hope the final shots convey her lively yet faintly melancholic aura. Maintaining the props is a massive task in itself—dusting off the wings and delicate fabric is waiting for me at home.
