This Tatara Kogasa outfit actually required a lot of thought to nail the details during the customization stage, especially the plush pom-poms on the chest and skirt hem, as well as that iconic purple oil-paper umbrella—it is truly the soul of the entire look. The ruffles on the white top are distinctively layered, and the high-waisted design of the blue jumper skirt perfectly highlights the proportions. Paired with those white pom-poms of various sizes, it creates a lively swaying motion when walking.

When I first received it, I was still wondering how to transport this umbrella to the shoot location because the ribs are made of real bamboo and wood, making it much heavier than I expected. Coupled with the massive purple canopy and the highly conspicuous large eye pattern on it, when opened under the sunlight, that unique fantasy feeling characteristic of Touhou Project instantly emerged. Every time I open the umbrella, I feel like I am truly protecting this forgotten umbrella; this heavy prop actually makes the sense of immersion even stronger.

When styling the blue hair, I deliberately added a slight gradient highlight. Combined with the bangs and the slightly flipped-out wavy curls, the overall look doesn't feel too rigid, avoiding the cheap appearance that comes with a purely high-saturation blue wig. For eye makeup, I chose amber-tinted colored contacts to balance the overall cool tones of the blue and white outfit, giving the gaze more focus. In close-up shots, the color of the pupils echoes the red eye on the umbrella.

The location chosen this time was very clever: a white round arch bridge and a deep blue lake surface, which looked incredibly translucent under the clear light. With the high contrast, the blue-and-white clothing paired with the purple umbrella created an immense visual tension. Among these photos, my favorite is the moment I lifted my leg. Flip-flops aren't actually suited for dramatic movements, but for the sake of a dynamic frame, I worked hard to maintain my balance. That airy, floaty feeling fits the character's own personality quite well.

What I am most satisfied with is the giant eye pattern on the umbrella. During the shoot, the photographer intentionally utilized reflections and depth of field to make that eye look as if it were staring directly at the person in front of the lens, creating a mysterious yet slightly playful atmosphere. Although it was very windy during the shoot and holding this massive umbrella almost caused me to be swept away by the wind, the resulting effect is truly dynamic.

The small wooden bracket and the little bundle at the bottom of the umbrella handle were actually meant to recreate her details as a prop. During the shoot preparation, I paid special attention to the angle so that the wooden support and the small white cloth bag on the red string could be clearly displayed. These, combined with the white plush pom-poms and lace ruffles on the dress, created a wonderful texture as the skirt fluttered while walking on the grass.

The lighting on the day of the shoot was incredibly good—almost a bit too dazzling. To prevent heavy facial shadows, I frequently needed to subtly adjust my angle under the intense light. The action of blocking the sunlight with my profile in the photo was a real reaction, which ironically captured a very natural side of me. Meanwhile, the close-up of sticking out my tongue was an attempt to try some livelier interactive vibes, showing that this character is not just mysterious, but also has a playful and mischievous side.

Honestly, as an enthusiast who often cosplays niche characters, I thoroughly enjoy digging deep into the recreation process behind every single prop. The folds in the fabric, the size of the pom-poms, the color scheme of the umbrella, and the curvature of the ribs—all of these are key to supporting the character's image. Outdoor portrait shooting is indeed a test of physical endurance, especially when holding such a massive prop while maintaining various dramatic poses, but being able to present these vivid, lively moments in the end makes all the hard work worthwhile. I hope this set of photos allows everyone to feel the purity and quirkiness of this character, while perfectly recreating her carefree yet slightly mysterious nature.
