[The Shorekeeper cosplay] Wuthering Waves convention photos, the perfect combination of blue-and-white dress and light and shadow

A lot of effort went into this Wuthering Waves The Shorekeeper convention photoset, from wig styling to shaping the skirt hem. The wig chosen is an ice-blue long straight style, with neat bangs trimmed on the forehead. To restore the character's detached and chilly vibe, the makeup intensified the eyeshadow blending and used a light pink lip color, making the overall look fit better with a cool pale complexion state. For the headwear, a white lace headband was chosen, paired with translucent tulle, giving the overall styling more layering. To make the wig look less frizzy in front of the lens, a flat iron was used for layered treatment before the shoot, and a small amount of conditioning spray was applied to the hair ends to maintain smoothness.
The clothing is the main highlight this time: a blue-and-white color-blocked dress. The upper body features a strapless lace-up design with intricate white lace sewn along the edges. The chest is embellished with a crystal-textured bow, and both arms feature detachable ruffled sleevelets that nicely contour the shoulder and neck lines. The skirt hem is an irregular front-short-back-long design, with the outer layer made of glossy tulle and the inner layer stacked with light blue pleated fabric. To enhance the dynamic effect, I wore white garter stockings on my right thigh and paired my feet with transparent toe-exposed high-heeled sandals. The overall visual effect combines the nobility of a dress without looking overly heavy. The lacing and zipper positions of this garment are relatively concealed, requiring an assistant's help to adjust during wearing, especially the fit of the strapless part, which directly affects the silhouette of the upper body.
The shooting day took place in a large exhibition hall, backed by dark metal trusses and neatly arranged overhead lights. Photographer Xiaomian Toki used a Sony A7C II with direct-out shots all the way, and the lighting and shadow texture are fantastic. To capture the moment when the skirt hem flew, we prepared some blue-and-white gradient ribbons on-site while cooperating with a fan to create wind effects. Shiny crushed diamonds and sequins were also laid out on the ground, and when hit by the lights, it looked like snow or water droplets flying in the air. Since these are convention photos, the on-site lighting is relatively complex, but the wide dynamic range of the A7C II surprised me; details in highlights and shadows were both preserved completely, basically requiring no excessive post-processing adjustments. Especially in situations with complex overhead lighting in the exhibition hall, the autofocus system could still tightly lock onto the eyes, greatly improving the photo success rate.
In terms of poses, I utilized spinning and arm-raising postures, pinching both sides of the skirt hem with my hands to spread out the irregularly cut tulle skirt as much as possible. Because the skirt hem has a front-short-back-long design, turning sideways slightly can wonderfully showcase the leg lines, and the high-heeled sandals can also visually elongate proportions. Attention to expression management was necessary during the shoot; The Shorekeeper carries a natural quiet and chilly temperament, so the gaze needed to be slightly relaxed without looking overly forced. On-site, we tried low-angle upward shots, which better highlight the fluffiness of the skirt hem and the slender feel of the legs while avoiding the cluttered crowd in the background.
Every time I do a cosplay, it feels like having a dialogue with the character—from costume details to on-site atmosphere control, hoping to restore the traits embodied in the character as much as possible. The fabric of this dress is lightweight, presenting a translucent texture under the lights, perfectly matching the character's settings. The lighting environment of the exhibition hall instead brought a stage-like feel to the photos, making the flashing effect of the ribbons and crushed diamonds even more prominent.
The air conditioning on-site was a bit cold, but the effect of the dancing skirt hem was totally worth it. To capture the most perfect dynamic movement, I spun more than a dozen times repeatedly before cooperating with the photographer to get this photo where both the skirt hem arc and the lighting angle were just right. The smooth production of this set of convention photos is inseparable from the photographer's candid shots and logistics assistance. Hope this Shorekeeper styling lets everyone feel the lightness and agility of the water element.
