Choosing an autumn crimson maple setting for this shoot, I embarked on an in-depth outdoor creative journey portraying Reimu Hakurei from Touhou Project. Pre-shoot preparation primarily focused on confirming the costume and props: the red-and-white Shrine maiden outfit paired with the oversized red bow on my head. The tailoring of this outfit is quite demanding on body figure, especially the midriff-baring design, requiring disciplined posture control to project the character's signature lightness. The metal bell gohei wand prop held in my hand was quite hefty; holding it for prolonged periods left my wrist somewhat sore, yet these preparations were indispensable to achieve the authentic effect of a Cosplay photoshoot.

The weather on the day of the shoot was exceptionally cooperative, with sunlight filtering through the Autumn maple leaves to create stunning light and shadow effects. We primarily selected spots around a wooden bridge and flagstone paths. On the bridge, the photographer guided me to try a single-leg standing pose holding the prop aloft. Between maintaining balance and managing the wide, voluminous skirt, I had to continuously recalibrate my center of gravity. Capturing a gracefully extended full-body shot like in Photo 2 was no easy feat, but it vividly captured the character's dynamic agility.

Throughout this process, communication with the photographer was remarkably seamless. To convey the character's detachment and the crisp autumn atmosphere, the photographer utilized a wide aperture and backlighting while calibrating lens flares and floating dust motes in the frame, imbuing the scene with a dreamlike texture. Photos 3 and 4 were experiments with top-down and low-angle shots around the rocky area; I had to adjust the direction of my face using natural light to soften fragmented shadows. Since fallen leaves carpeted the rocks, capturing snapshots required careful awareness so the skirt wouldn't snag on twigs.

In post-processing, heavy or exaggerated retouching was avoided; the focus was primarily on unifying the color palette into warm orange-amber tones to align with the Autumn maple leaves theme, alongside fine-tuning light and shadow so the red elements of the costume blended harmoniously with the surrounding foliage. The textures of the fabric and lace details were accentuated through depth of field. As an iconic character in Touhou Project, Reimu Hakurei's design is instantly recognizable. This Cosplay photoshoot prioritized the interactive harmony between subject and nature rather than mere static posing. Hoping to recreate her leisurely yet mysterious demeanor on an autumn day in Gensokyo, I consciously restrained my facial expressions and movement range. While the entire shooting process was demanding, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile. What was preserved wasn't merely the character herself, but a breathtaking collision with natural scenery. The synergy between photography and editing enriched the visual texture; the red maples, wooden bridge, and wand all materialized the cultural symbols of Touhou Project. Dancing amidst the red maples was a truly unique shooting experience, allowing me to fully appreciate the distinctive aura this character radiates within this seasonal setting.
