[Hong Meiling cosplay] Touhou Project Chinese Martial Arts Girl Convention Pose Reference Sharing

I promised to share some photo pose references earlier, and I've finally sorted through the photos. Many friends mentioned they often freeze up in front of the camera; in fact, I was also very stiff when I first started cosplaying. For this Touhou Project Hong Meiling set, I found a relatively open spot at the convention venue to try poses that carry a martial arts flavor while remaining easy to pull off. Paired with red twin tails, a green floral-patterned headpiece, and a Chinese-style outfit in white, green, and gold, the wide white bloomers naturally accentuated the power of leg movements through the fabric folds. When capturing these poses, avoid just mimicking the shape mechanically. For instance, in single-leg standing poses, engage your core, lift your center of gravity slightly upward rather than sinking completely onto your leg, open your fingers with deliberate tension, and let your gaze follow your fingertips to create visual tension. For seated poses with an extended leg, keep your back straight even as your legs bend and stretch, using your arms to either partially frame the face or push forward to form a triangular structure, which prevents stiffness while highlighting the lines of your legs and waist. For hand clasps or punch gestures, do not merely touch your hands together—project strength. When pushing your palm, extend your arm fully and pull your shoulder back so the fabric and tassels look taut and dynamic in the shot. When shooting crouching poses on slick convention floors, stay mindful of slipping, avoid slouching, and use hand positioning to maintain balance. During the shoot, I actively communicated my posing ideas with the photographer, utilizing the venue's layered lighting and darker backgrounds to make the subject pop. There are no real shortcuts to photography: practice your focal points of exertion in front of a mirror to understand your strengths, and you will naturally feel at ease before the lens.
