This Red dress outfit from the China International Comics Festival (CICF) Convention photos was actually requested by many friends at the venue. Regarding the phrase "heart indentation," I think it's probably because, under specific lighting, the contrast between red and white along with the combination of elf ears and silver hair leaves a memorable impression. Choosing to recreate this Red dress look for Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End was not just a simple character roleplay for me, but a desire to find the lightness and serenity belonging to an elf in this sun-drenched outdoor setting.

In preparing the costume, the wig and elf ears remained key to achieving high fidelity. The silver-white twin tails were styled smooth and separated into strands so they could maintain a natural airy movement when the wind blows. The red hairband and necklace not only have high color saturation, but were also chosen from soft, non-reflective fabrics to complement the off-the-shoulder ruffle design. This gives the entire Red dress visual layering without feeling overly heavy. The white flower bouquet accented with a "Just for you" ribbon served as a lovely prop, allowing the overall look to retain a touch of cool composure amidst its vibrant hue.

The sunlight during the shoot was fantastic; natural light filtered through the roadside greenery onto the red skirt, forming beautiful dappled light and shadow. The full-body shot was actually a candid capture on the road, where the white arrow markings on the street gave the composition an extended perspective, while the blurred green trees in the background served as the ideal backdrop. Dynamic movements also clearly showcased the dress silhouette and leg lines. The half-body close-ups focused more on capturing eye contact and facial expressions, hoping every photo conveys the unique temperament of the character setting.

When expressing her demeanor, I intentionally softened my facial expressions, attempting to capture Frieren's seemingly calm yet subtly profound gaze. Although the Red dress itself carries a strong visual impact, conveying emotion through eyes and presence allows the overall vibe to resonate deeply with her original character in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. The challenge of outdoor shooting lies in changing light and passersby's glances, but that is precisely the joy of capturing Convention photos—every candid shot brings a fresh sense of vivid reality.

The CICF venue was vibrant and crowded, yet shooting under outdoor natural light created an atmosphere detached from the hustle and bustle. Getting satisfying shots on location also helps post-processing. Color combinations of red, white, green, and blue often form pleasing contrasts in photography, and we strived for balance in lighting and composition. Walking down the street in this attire is an immersive experience in itself, which is the most attractive aspect of cosplay. A Red dress is often an eye-catcher at conventions, especially with such distinct character design, instantly leaving a memorable impression in a crowd.

Overall, the final results of these Convention photos achieved my expected vision. Being able to preserve the details of this Red dress styling and its texture under the sun through the lens is one of the happiest moments of a convention. Whether recreating character settings or infusing personal interpretation, every cosplay attempt is a brand-new journey. I hope everyone enjoys this carefully prepared look and can feel the unique aura belonging to the elf.
