The convention photos from the first day of the CPSP Anime Convention have been sorted out, so let's get straight to the point and share the specific details of the on-site shoot. This look presents a very refreshing visual effect in the bright, whitish outdoor lighting. In terms of styling, it features a black-and-white printed jacket as the main piece, paired with over-the-knee socks and thigh rings, plus a cat-ear headband and goggles as head decorations, allowing it to maintain its unique character even around the crowded convention venue. Considering the massive foot traffic, we looked for a relatively open grey-tiled area at the edge of the square for the actual outdoor cosplay photography. By using a modern glass curtain wall as the background instead of shooting directly in the cluttered crowds, the background of the images looks much cleaner.
The photos record several different camera positions and angles. The two sitting poses nicely display a casual and natural state, while the over-the-shoulder glance while standing reveals a bit of playfulness. A particularly eye-catching set consists of shots taken with a wide-angle lens, where the character stretches her hand toward the camera and leans forward, presenting a perspective full of dynamism and extension. This kind of perspective happens easily during candid shoots at convention venues; it not only shortens the distance between the subject and the audience but also incorporates the surrounding architectural lines and the movement of the crowd into the frame, creating a strong visual impact. The photographer perfectly positioned themselves amidst the passing crowd to capture this shot.
Regarding the makeup and styling details, to match the catgirl cosplay theme this time, the makeup style chose a clear and clean texture without excessively heavy colors, emphasizing instead the three-dimensional contour of the eyes to blend in with the ambient light of the convention. The twin-tail outfit features pink hair ties, which look playful and energetic, while also forming a color complement with the black cat ears and goggles. Although the overall styling leans towards casual street style, it retains the atmospheric feel of specific elements in its characteristics. When walking around the venue, many passersby took photos or waved, and judging from this feedback, the accuracy and friendliness of the look seemed quite good.
The crowding at the CPSP venue definitely exceeded expectations, making it very difficult to find people or shoot at specific landmarks. However, this outfit itself is quite suitable for mobile candid shots. I spent a long time doing outdoor cosplay photography in this entire gear, during which I also ran into many photography enthusiasts. Since there was no specific character name or appearance limitation, it wasn't overly restrictive to wear, and this relatively free state made the shooting process more relaxed and natural. This set of photos records a casual atmosphere of the outdoor convention, with the overall color grading leaning towards bright and soft, balancing the cool tones of the architecture with the colors of the outfit. I hope these convention photos can recreate the lively atmosphere of the event back then. Having sorted everything out, I'm sharing this set of photos directly to record some authentic moments from the event.
