[Panty cosplay] Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: Beijing IJOY Anime Exhibition Convention photos

From initial prep to final execution, this Panty cosplay took about two weeks, mainly timed to catch the Beijing IJOY Anime Exhibition. For the wardrobe, while the base style is a white ruffled dress, I removed the original puffy lining to achieve true-to-source texture and hand-stitched crisp tulle instead, ensuring the skirt hemline draped with a much better flare when walking. The heart accents on the chest and skirt flank were custom-ordered with high-density foam cores wrapped in flocked velvet, creating dimensional volume without looking cheap. The gold armlets and leg bands were made of rigid PU leather; I attached silicone grip strips to the interiors to stop them from sliding down during a full day of convention walking. The wig was purchased in an ash-blonde tone, but the base was far too bulky, so I thinned out roughly a third of the hair mass, sculpting the signature halo ringlet on top with hairspray and wire. Vibrant blue contacts and winged eyeliner were the soul of the makeup, complemented by warm metallic bronze eyeshadow contouring the outer corners. To nail her brazen expressions, I spent hours practicing my gaze before a mirror. The prop gun was modified from a toy blaster: the original colors were far too bright, so I sanded the surface, sprayed a white primer base, hand-painted the blue patterns with acrylics, and finished it with a coat of matte protective varnish, giving it great tactile handling on camera.

The convention was packed and the background was quite cluttered, but photographer Qingfeng Photographer V found a passageway with great focal depth, combining ambient lighting with off-camera flash to crush the background shadows and make the character pop cleanly. The frontal full-body shot in photo three is my personal favorite: the stance angle perfectly displays the golden leg band and strapped wraps, feeling dynamic without looking rigid. The barrel-biting pose in photo one took several attempts; the muzzle couldn't go too deep or it would obscure facial features, and a slight low-angle upward tilt was necessary to define the jawline. The kneeling stances in photos two and four demanded serious core control, especially with high heels wobbling slightly on the fleece rug, requiring continuous weight shifts to keep my spine upright. Several fellow fans recognized Panty on-site and came over for selfie keepsakes—being recognized is always deeply rewarding.

Wearing this outfit around a convention wasn't entirely effortless, especially with wings and heels, demanding extra care when walking, and the golden leg bands slid slightly once I started sweating, needing frequent adjustments. Still, for a beloved character, every bit of effort was worth it. The overall lighting and chromatic tones in the finished shots aligned flawlessly with our vision, fully channeling the character's bold, sassy charm for a deeply fulfilling convention experience.
