Winter is indeed a season where it's easy to indulge yourself—hotpot, BBQ, hot milk tea, finding all kinds of excuses to eat every day. When this Sparkle cosplay Cosplay photoshoot from Honkai: Star Rail was released, looking at my calves and ankles in the photos, I truly experienced what it means by "the happier you eat in winter, the chubbier your legs look now." But since the photos are already taken, I won't overthink it. I'll openly admit that I failed to control my mouth recently; chubby is chubby, at least I really love the captured atmosphere.
This shoot was a Japanese-style photography collaboration with photographer Takyi Qiyue. Setting up the entire scene required quite a bit of effort—not only did we prepare black wooden floor lamps to filter out a warm white glow, but we also scattered several washi paper umbrellas of varying colors (pink, orange-red, and blue) across the tatami mats and background. The backdrop featured a massive full moon and cherry blossom setup, which, coupled with traditional Japanese wooden grid sliding doors, created a courtyard nightscape ambiance indoors. This type of scene heavily tests the coordination of light and shadow. Takyi Qiyue beautifully captured the texture of the light reflecting on skin and garments; though the low-angle shots made the leg lines look rounded, they also radiated a realistic, soft lifestyle presence.
For character styling, this outfit is centered around red, white, and black, paired with her signature red double-layered bows, a collar with golden bells, and black half-finger leather gloves. I really love the off-the-shoulder design of this dress. Sometimes, looking at my relatively slender shoulders and collarbones, and then looking at the fat accumulated on my legs from eating too well, I find the contrast quite amusing. During the shoot, there were also several plush dolls of the same character nearby. I placed them on top of the lanterns or on the floor as props, which added a touch of playfulness and cuteness to the frame—consider it a little interactive detail I added for myself.
Speaking of these legs, after doing cosplay for so long, I increasingly feel that there is no need to have overly harsh anxiety about one's body silhouette. Whether fans like it or not is just a matter of opinion; what truly needs care is your own state and confidence in front of the lens. My thighs and calves in these photos are indeed much more rounded, and the chubby feel is a genuine trace of my current lifestyle. I didn't specially retouch them to look thinner; I want to preserve this most authentic present state. However, seeing the photos is indeed a reminder that spring is just around the corner, and to wear lighter clothing in the summer, I must proactively take action.
Starting tomorrow, I will officially enter my fat-loss meal rhythm. I am not the type to go into extreme fasting—that's bad for the body and prone to rebounding—so I plan to strictly control carbs and increase intake of high-quality protein and dietary fiber, such as chicken breast, fish, broccoli, and lettuce. Simultaneously, I'll pair this with half an hour of daily cardio, not expecting to become lightning-thin overnight, but aiming to healthily burn away the fat stockpiled over the winter. Putting the words out there first serves as a form of self-accountability, hoping to see a much lighter version of myself during the next shoot.
That's all for this shoot and sharing! Thanks to the original creator for appearing in person, and a huge thank you again to master Takyi Qiyue for his patient shooting and guidance. Capturing a Cosplay photoshoot is just like preparing fat-loss meals—both are processes requiring investment of patience and passion. Looking forward to the arrival of summer, and looking forward to my upcoming transformations!
