Collaborated with photographer @白菌 this time to create this Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle cosplay photoshoot. Preparing beforehand took immense thought to achieve the finest result. The costume's details are intricate: the red-and-black modified kimono needed structure without looking bulky during dynamic movement. I specifically attached a black-and-white bunny plushie, red ribbon bows, and bells to the obi sash, giving a gentle chime when walking to enhance interactive charm. The black mini top hat with white bunny ears atop the head, along with the black choker featuring a golden plum blossom pendant, form the core hallmarks of the character's visual identity. For makeup, to capture her distinct persona, the eye makeup paired red contact lenses with reddish-brown eyeshadow, accented by a red teardrop motif on the cheek; combined with the silver-white twintail wig and braided headband, looking in the mirror instantly brought deep immersion.
The set arrangement matched the palette of the outfit impeccably. Red velvet curtains in the background provided a theatrical stage presence, strung with red-and-white bunting and playing cards. The floor had black-and-white checkerboard mats strewn with fluffy white cotton and golden confetti, with massive brown teddy bears piled in the corner alongside a large white bunny plushie wearing a red bow tie. To match this fantastical, slightly absurd fairy-tale ambiance, I tested numerous photo poses. When standing with playing cards in hand, I lowered my shoulders and relaxed my wrists so holding the cards looked casual yet full of tension, shifting my weight onto one leg to better showcase the skirt's layering and leg contours.
The set of shots lying on the floor was the most challenging part of this shoot. To achieve a unique perspective from below, I had to recline on the floor filled with cotton and toys, raising and crossing my legs. This pose heavily tested core and abdominal strength; keeping leg lines smooth required pointing my toes continuously. The black lace-up heeled ankle boots formed a bold color contrast with the red skirt, yielding intense visual impact under high-angle shots. In prop coordination, massive red dice, colorful balloons, and scattered playing cards enriched the frame with visual elements and storytelling. Photographer @白菌 demonstrated exceptional expertise in composition and lighting control; the red drapes sharply contrasted with the white hair and attire, while high-saturation warm lighting sculpted facial contours and highlighted fabric textures in this Anime-style photography work.
The shooting process was exhausting because of constantly navigating between toys and props while frequently readjusting posture and photo poses. Yet seeing the final frames made every bit of dedication worthwhile. Post-processing emphasized the timeless red, black, and white palette, preserving the vintage, psychedelic theatrical mood on set. Sparkle's personality is inherently elusive and vibrant, and during the shoot, I continuously sought that playful yet mysterious vibe, hoping these photos convey that exact magic.
