[Anby cosplay] Tactical Maiden of Zenless Zone Zero: An Action-Packed Shoot Diary

The moment I received this Tactical Techwear gear for Anby from Zenless Zone Zero, I couldn't wait to suit up and capture a dynamic, high-action series of shots. The outfit's construction is exceptionally hardcore: an olive-green and black tactical vest interwoven with complex straps, snap buckles, and black circular attachment rings, complemented by orange rectangular hazard decals on bare arms and neon-green cabling wound around the torso to amplify the cyberpunk-tech aesthetic. Layered over a black bodysuit and paired with a black pleated skirt, the ensemble merges rugged combat readiness with the nimble grace of a young girl.

Styling the wig took considerable work. The silver-grey hair, accented by a delicate side braid, required heavy coats of wax and freeze spray so the bangs wouldn't shatter out of place during vigorous jumps and kinetic turns. The crown jewel was the massive prop firearm—finished in charcoal-black and olive drab with green insignias and the 'NIMBUS' insignia along its flank. Its intricate architecture boasts cooling vents, exposed hydraulic piping, and luminous glow-strips. The prop carried substantial weight, and hoisting or swinging it with one hand demanded serious arm endurance.

We shot on the convention floor beneath a black industrial mesh ceiling studded with dense circular can-lights. When paired with wide-aperture lenses, these overhead floods melted into creamy, spherical bokeh in the background, cleanly isolating the subject from the bustling crowd. To channel Anby's lethality, my posing incorporated repeated sprints and mid-air suspension kicks. The flying high kick in shot two was captured through dozens of repeated leaps; to showcase the sleek sheen of the black Stockings cosplay (over-the-knee socks) and the kinetic flare of the skirt, I had to lock my core tight while keeping my facial expression cold, calm, and hyper-focused.

To give the stockings dimensional pop under ambient strobes, we angled directional fill lights to contour the muscular definition of the legs. In post-processing, the grading retained the moody cool tones of the venue while accentuating the gritty contrast between metal hardware and fabric weaves, avoiding artificial skin smoothing to keep light-to-shadow falloff authentic. From assembling props and locking the wig to nailing the high-speed shutter timing on-site, the physical exertion was immense, yet capturing such raw, kinetic power made every drop of sweat worthwhile.
