[Raiden Shogun cosplay] Succubus Style Descends Upon Changchun CJ Anime Convention

Having pondered over this succubus-style fan-made Raiden Shogun cosplay look for a while, it finally came to life thanks to the Changchun CJ anime convention. This look adopts a dark-and-navy visual color palette, attempting to blend more fantastical and playful single-eye succubus elements into Raiden Shogun's original solemn and majestic character design.

Starting with the costume, this outfit overall features a glossy black leather tube-top mini dress integrated with spliced hollow-out tailoring, utilizing metal buckles and rose decorations at the waist to mirror the front and back design. It's paired with a massive dark blue long cape possessing a satin sheen, featuring a wide floor-dragging sweep that creates a wonderful flowing effect when walking around the convention site. The purple-red pieced wings on the back and independent semi-translucent black mesh sleeves on the arms are key details that reinforce the "succubus" aura.

As for props, the long sword recreates the character's classic weapon form—the silver reflective blade paired with a golden crossguard and a red-and-black hilt feels substantial in hand. However, holding and swinging the sword for long periods at the venue while wearing the heavy dark blue cape was quite physically demanding. On my feet, I paired black platform lace-up high heels with Black stockings; this combination not only lengthened overall proportions but also matched the mysterious overall visual vibe, while garter details on the thighs added a captivating atmosphere to the look.

The location for this photoshoot was the indoor venue of the Changchun CJ anime convention. Because the site features a massive industrial-style concrete floor and high truss structures, venue lighting comes from array-style overhead lights providing relatively uniform illumination, making the overall ambient brightness lean toward the brighter side among convention halls. At the same time, with huge crowds walking around and shooting, the environment was quite chaotic, which truly tested our photo-taking efficiency.

Special thanks to photographer and post-processor @小T_sune. During our short shooting window of just several dozen minutes, we not only had to overcome interruptions from passersby on-site but also capture flexible and graceful poses within narrow gaps. We attempted various postures such as reclining, standing on one leg holding the sword, and half-body sword posing; the material of the black tights looked very natural under the flash exposure without appearing stiffly reflective. The cape-tossing motion in the third and fourth photos was selected from continuous bursts—to lift that large cape during those few seconds, I jumped continuously five or six times to capture an ideal frame. The reclining posture sitting on the ground in the first photo highlighted leg lines and the highlight texture of the Black stockings nicely, while balancing spatial composition well.

Since this is a fan-art derivative cosplay, when styling the wig, I specifically elevated the crown and trimmed the bangs. The deep blue hair color, combined with a pair of gold hairclips and blue-and-white flower ornaments, adds a bit of demon-esque laziness compared to Raiden Shogun's original hairstyle. The nails were also styled long and pointed to stay closer to the succubus concept.

The biggest takeaway from this convention photo experience is that thoughtfully prepared props and costumes, working in harmony with the venue and photographer, can maximize the charm inherent in the original design concept. Although exhausting on-site, seeing the final work makes me truly happy.
