【Red hair cosplay】Elf ears New Year Greeting: Sharing Some Insights from This Shoot - Image 1

This set of photos featuring an Anime-style look with Elf ears records warm New Year greetings. To prepare for this shoot, I started styling the curves of the red wig many days in advance. For the shoot, a simple Solid color background was chosen to accompany the white and gold color scheme of the outfit, aiming to present a clean yet festive visual effect in this Red hair cosplay project.

For hair and makeup, the vibrant red hair was paired with bright blue colored contacts, creating a striking color contrast, so I put extra care into blending pink-toned eye makeup to make the gaze look softer and more spirited. The pointed Elf ears props were truly a test of patience; to make the ear edges look natural, I tried multiple angles repeatedly before achieving a seamless fit along the facial contours. The floral headpiece on top took quite a while to secure firmly, as it tended to shift during posing in the middle of shooting—another valuable lesson learned.

After putting on the gray gloves and black detached sleeves, gesturing felt particularly expressive. This costume has numerous details, especially the black-and-white geometric patterns on the collar and the golden chains. Because the shoot required frequent arm raises, the cuffs easily slipped down, meaning straightening the outfit took even longer than the actual shooting.

Regarding the greeting quote from Teacher Tibao in the caption, though unfamiliar with the specific lore of the work, that playful and auspicious mood harmonized wonderfully with the red, white, and gold palette. The shooting pace was very relaxed throughout; to match this heart of good wishes, I experimented with various expressions before the camera. In the waving photo finally selected, I genuinely felt like a little elf delivering good fortune in this New Year greeting cosplay.

A Solid color background looks simple, but lighting it properly actually requires considerable effort. We adjusted the positions of the key light and reflectors multiple times before the makeup looked clean and luminous without harsh shadows. This is a crucial professional nuance when shooting this style, as only soft lighting can fully bring out the skin texture and costume details.

Honestly speaking, the red wig was quite heavy, and combined with the headpiece, my neck felt rather sore toward the later part of the shoot. But seeing the frames gradually take shape in the camera made all the effort feel worthwhile. This shoot was not just about recreating a styling, but also a personal journey for myself. Combined with these wonderful wishes for 2026, I feel this photo set inherently carries an upbeat, positive spirit.

Sorting through the photos after the shoot, I felt this angle of waving and smiling was the most natural. Not only did it capture a flattering posture, but more importantly, this expression perfectly conveyed my cheerful state of mind at that moment. Finishing this photoshoot and post-processing serves as a wonderful, fulfilling conclusion to my New Year records.
