For styling, the focus was white twin-tails with cyan highlights, multi-layered golden metallic ring hairpieces on both sides, ring earrings embellished with delicate tassels, alongside a cyan-green bead bracelet and a white-jade texture necklace pendant, creating a visual balance of icy elegance and warm grace. The costume features a Han-element patchwork style with a cyan-green to off-white gradient, combining a high collar with a white lining and generous white lace trim along the sleeves to enhance garment layering while preserving traditional Chinese ethereal flow.
For set design, we selected Chinese wooden lattice windows with carved patterns, draped translucent cyan and white drapes, and antique wooden low benches and writing desks. Warm yellow paper lanterns served as the main light source, contrasting with cool exterior window light to frame a classically poetic scene within this elegant space. Golden ginkgo leaves scattered across scrolls and flooring added an autumn touch to the photo set. The prop team specially prepared long Xuan paper scrolls, calligraphy brushes, and inksticks, alongside an unrolled small-regular-script scroll on the desk and a round fan in my hand, creating an immersive, scholarly sense of quietude.
During shooting, poses were kept restrained to avoid disrupting the balance between facial features and traditional Chinese styling. The fourth photo incorporated a birthday hat, a small plush toy, and \"Happy Birthday\" collage elements as a playful touch. Although her original character setting leans composed and dignified, on such a special day, I wished to capture some lively memories.
Controlling light and shadow was the most challenging aspect of this entire set. The pairing of light-colored hair with deep cyan garments, aided by side-backlighting and warm lantern light, highlighted the character's three-dimensional dimension. The photographer precisely captured subtle eye emotions and hand micro-gestures, especially the angle of holding the fan while reading the scroll. Details dictate success—from metallic accessory highlights to boot reflections, every element aimed for realistic texture in Cosplay photography.
The chunky-heeled boots with white soles and black toes featured a low-angle close-up on the wooden steps. These boots preserved the overall light-toned traditional style while adding a modern design touch, preventing the outfit from feeling overly heavy.
