[Jinhsi cosplay] Wuthering Waves traditional Chinese style outfit: The collision of silver hair and sheer gauze - Image 1

This traditional Chinese style look of Jinhsi from Wuthering Waves took a quite long time to prepare, from fitting to background adjustments. Today, I mainly want to share the details of this photoshoot and some personal experiences with everyone.
First, let's talk about the costume and styling. Jinhsi's traditional Chinese style outfit has a very strong sense of layering. To support the three-dimensional structure of the chest and waist, the inner wear actually underwent multi-layer shaping, while the outer gauze skirt was made of a material with good light transmission. The intertwining of pink, blue, and white creates a light, flowing sense in front of the lens. The red belt and gold accessories at the waist played a great role in brightening the overall color tone. To ensure the drape of the skirt hem, it was carefully ironed with a garment steamer before the shoot. Every fold and strap on the clothes was repeatedly adjusted.
Regarding the wig, the silver-white twin tails needed to be brushed smooth every day. To avoid excessive reflection, a matte hairspray was used. The direction of the bangs and sideburns in front of the forehead were slightly adjusted according to the facial contours. The headwear is a combination of handmade coiled flowers and ribbons, with a pinkish-white tendency on the left and light blue and purple ribbons hanging on the right, featuring plenty of details. To keep the headwear from looking cluttered on camera, the wearing position was shifted slightly backward and to the side, which avoids blocking the face while increasing the fullness of the styling.
In terms of makeup, this time I deliberately tried a translucent base makeup, paired with pink eyeshadow and blush, plus light-colored contact lenses, hoping to closely match the character's overall temperament. The golden forehead ornament and earrings serve as accents, reflecting under the light to add a touch of delicacy. The lip makeup chose a pink with a watery sheen; the overall makeup remained clean without heavy contouring, placing the focus on the eye depiction.
The shooting location was chosen as an indoor space with wooden walls and traditional Chinese elements. The huge glowing full moon in the background served as the main ambient light source, coupled with surrounding pink and white flower branches, creating a classical yet dreamy feeling. During the shoot, I sat on a spot covered with a white plush blanket, with wooden boxes, a tea set, and a bamboo umbrella placed nearby to echo the foreground and background. The lighting technician added a layer of soft light paper in front of the main light, and the side-backlight brought out the translucent texture of the gauze skirt completely, making the jawline and collarbones look more three-dimensional.
Because the costume material is relatively light and thin, movements felt much more relaxed in a warmly heated environment. In terms of pose design, I tried to keep them restrained: hands folded across the chest, gaze looking straight at the camera, trying to convey the character's ethereal and tender vibe. For the sitting posture, turning slightly sideways better showcased the leg lines while making the layering of the skirt hem more obvious.
As for the character Jinhsi from Wuthering Waves, I have always loved her design style. Integrating traditional Chinese style elements into 2D culture really tests the details, and this cosplay attempt was also meant to restore that feeling of having oriental charm without losing game characteristics. From the clothing pattern to the placement of props, everything closely adhered to the atmosphere of the original setting. Every photo release relies on the cooperation of the photographer and logistics team; from lighting to prop placement, everyone spent a long time polishing it together. I am quite satisfied with the final photos, feeling that the character's atmosphere was fully maximized.
