During this trip to the Shanghai convention, I finally managed to complete a full outdoor shoot for this Fatui Columbina Damselette cosplay. Costume design details were focused primarily on the white blindfold and wrapped bandages across limbs. To recreate her mysterious yet fragile ambience, I meticulously adjusted bandage wrapping techniques and tightness prior to the shoot, ensuring crisp bandage textures in static shots without restricting movement flexibility. The sleeveless white dress paired with a broad cloak featuring subtle gray patterns and a black fur collar added structural volume while maintaining a balanced black, white, and red color scheme. The hair styling featured a black base with magenta streaks; since it was shot live at an Anime convention cosplay venue, wigs easily get frizzy from long wear and walking, so I secured the bangs and highlighted streaks with hair wax and setting spray beforehand to preserve crisp hair contours during low and high-angle shots.

The location chosen for this Shanghai photoshoot booking was around several stone steps and European-style corridors outside the convention hall, where ambient lighting varied greatly. Outdoor steps took advantage of soft overcast natural light, keeping the white clothing from overexposing while highlighting bandage layering; meanwhile, the semi-indoor railing area reflected cool architectural tones that added a detached mood fitting the character's distant personality. Instead of aggressive battle stances, poses focused on static body language like leaning back, side-reclining, and stretching out legs, using wrapped leg contours and a Barefoot look to emphasize delicate visual lines. Barefoot stepping on concrete steps inevitably caught dust on soles, but enduring it was totally worthwhile to embody her unconstrained aura.

As for makeup, focus rested on negative space created by the blindfold covering the eyes. The base was kept light and translucent, paired with a subtle mauve lip color to avoid stealing attention from the blindfold and hair highlights. The blindfold itself was handcrafted from lightweight lattice mesh; fitting it neatly around the eye area required continuous angle tweaks during shooting to reveal even lattice textures from both front and profile angles. Out of seven composition sets taken, the leg-extended step shot was my favorite: it captured the elegant drape of the dress hem while completely showcasing bandage details and barefoot lines against a clean, gray-white stone backdrop.

The convention crowd was quite dense that day, attracting curious onlookers who paused to ask how the blindfold stayed fixed to my face. In reality, invisible bobby pins and ultra-fine elastic thread held it in place without leaving visible marks—a little trick accumulated from past cosplays. As a Fatui harbinger from Genshin Impact, Columbina doesn't have over-the-top action poses, so I preferred conveying her aloof yet delicate presence through subtle chin tilts and head angles despite masked eyes. The photographer for this Shanghai photoshoot booking excelled at capturing static relaxation, resulting in several extraordinarily natural close-ups with tilted heads and closed eyes devoid of stiff posing.

Storing and maintaining the outfit presented its own challenges, particularly keeping dark prints and fur collars on the white coat free from dust. Between shoots, I folded the coat carefully into a dust bag, wearing it only during active camera takes. Since bandages easily loosen while walking, double-sided tape was applied on the inner side—though it stung slightly upon removal, it saved immense effort during filming. Opting for a Barefoot look at a convention venue was a bold move, but fortunately, the stair and railing areas were clean and free of sharp debris, allowing quick cleanup with wet wipes afterward.

The shooting experience proved thoroughly enjoyable, combining transparent outdoor natural light with the spatial depth of semi-indoor architecture to highlight both white fabric textures and black fur collar contrasts. For fans fond of Genshin Impact cosplay, mastering this character lies in balancing expression under a blindfold and conveying constraint through bandages. My insight is to avoid forced yandere tropes, opting instead for a relaxed mind, lazy seated postures, and stretched limbs to align with her intrinsic logic. I hope this photo set delivers a refreshing visual experience and serves as a complete personal record of a summer convention.
