This time, I chose to shoot Elysia's Lunar Grace cosplay look from Honkai Impact 3rd, featuring a gentle, dreamlike traditional Chinese color scheme. When I first received the outfit, my immediate impression was that the details were incredibly rich. Extensive white sheer gauze paired with a cherry-pink inner layer and golden piping along the edges elevated the overall texture immensely. The white plush ball on the chest served as a great visual anchor, echoing the pink petal-like ornaments for distinctly layered depth. The pink wig on top was styled in meticulous detail; the braided direction along with tiny gold flowers and leaf ornaments added a playful, lively charm to the makeup, while the signature fluffy bunny ear-like ring decorations were instantly recognizable features.
The shooting props were also quite fun—a uniquely styled white fan and a small wooden food box, which actually contained four different colored pastry models inside. Holding this food box during the shoot felt as if I was truly preparing to enjoy tea and snacks under a peach blossom tree. For styling coordination, a gold anklet was specifically worn around the ankle, which, paired with a barefoot posture, gave the look a fairy-like lightness alongside an approachable warmth. Huge thanks to photographer Yi Mu, whose control over lighting was spot on, perfectly capturing the soft light atmosphere filtering through wooden lattices and cherry blossom branches. The background's wooden tatami and moss-covered stone slabs set a grounded and harmonious foundation for our Traditional Chinese style cosplay theme.
The hardest part of cosplaying this look was arranging the costume layering and positioning poses. Holding props like the fan required coordinating grip angles and arm postures with the lens—neither blocking the face nor missing the beauty of the fan's carved lattice pattern and metallic texture. In the photo where I made a heart gesture, some cherry blossoms were used in the foreground as blurred framing, giving the entire composition a progressive sense of spatial depth—a clever idea from the photographer. The shooting process was actually a test of stamina and patience, needing to maintain a graceful seated position on the wooden floor while constantly checking if the wig shifted. Seeing the final results made all the hard work feel worth it, as a great Cosplay work relies on the seamless alignment of outfits, props, hair/makeup, photography, and post-processing.
I personally love the gentle yet vibrant quality this character conveys, so during the shoot, I tried my best to keep facial expressions soft and relaxed rather than forcing stiff poses. Whether holding the food box while looking into the camera or half-veiling my face with the fan, I hoped to express a naturally flowing sense of sharing. The costume fabric subtly glowed with pearlescent luster under studio lights, and the layered white gauze skirt looked exceptionally flowing—even though it was a studio shoot, I felt a visual lightness like spring wind touching my face. This Lunar Grace look was created with genuine care, and I hope this visual expression conveys the character's unique ambiance without needing too many words. If given the opportunity in the future, I look forward to doing another Traditional Chinese style cosplay photoshoot in real outdoor settings like ancient architectural gardens or cherry blossom groves.
